heartbreakingly, the TV still acts like its working...if you press the 3d button it goes blurry, if you put a 3d blu on it detects it ad the image blurs, but when you put the specs on the image doesnt resolve into 3d, it remains as if you have no glasses on.

SHITE!
That was the saddest story I have read in quite a while.

Wonder how hard it would be to add an external 3D polarizer though? Where is it located in the panels that include them?

Unsure_ when a new panel is delivered it comes in a tv sized box and swapped with faulty one.

I think the screens are layered, but you wouldnt know it due to how thin they are

My G6 has burn-in, so it's going back and I'm getting a partial refund. This seems to be enough to grab a 65" c9 and a 3D projector. As much as I'd like to keep the TV, the burn-in will only get worse..and I'd never be able to sell it for what LG are giving me back.

Awesome TV - one of LG's worst OLED panels. If you happen to own one of these without burn-in and want to keep it perfect - don't watch any commercial TV with any form of logo, NETFLIX, YouTube or gaming. All these things will leave burn-in on your TV eventually and there aint a damn thing you can do to fix it without saying bye bye to the best 3D a TV can offer.

My C6 has 3K hours of use (up time).

The TV gets mixed use in the family room (movies, games, YouTube).

I know that sounds crazy, but we don't have space for more 2D-only TVs.

But I do set limits on the OLED and lecture everyone about burn-in constantly.

The LG 8500 3D LED in the living room has almost 10K hours of operation...

Just turned on my 2015 LG 65EG9600-UB this morning and the first thing that came on the screen was "WEB OS" instead of my usual input selection.
When I selected my normal input source, a note came on the top-right of the screen stating the LG software was just updated to 04.26.00

According to the release notes, it's just a security update. But it's still nice to see LG release any sort of update for such an old model.

I've had my C6 for a while now and even though the 3d is great I’ve always underwhelmed with the pop out compared to reviews I’ve read online.

Are the tweak settings mentioned in this thread still relevant for the C6?

The tweak is also relevant for the C6.

Play a 3D Blu-ray you want to test at the default settings, then tweak the C6's 3D Mode settings and play the same disc again comparing 3D results.

Tweak: Select 3D Mode then select "Manual" and set "3D Depth" to 20 and set "3D Viewpoint to -10" , and always put 3D Mode in "Auto" before exiting 3D Mode settings.

Depth 20 Viewpoint -10-1.jpg,put back to auto, then exit-2.jpg

(Default 3D Mode settings: "3D Depth" 10 and "3D Viewpoint" 0)

How did you get a partial refund? I've called a few times. First they told me to clear panel noise. and then said nothing they could do on their end and told me to hire a repair guy. No mention of a partial refund or new screen. I've got nasty burn in. Static images suck.

Same thing with my second hand LG 55EG9100. Does this model have 3D tweak settings?

Someone else may be able to answer your question here.
Have never experimented with the 3D tweak on a passive 1080P display like the LG OLED EG9100.

Paul,

I wonder if you could further explain the connection between 3D Auto and 3D Manual?

I've always assumed they were completely separate configurations:

Auto (straight off the disc & As is) & Manual (tweaked to strengthen or weaken 3D).

In your posts, you suggest setting your Manual tweaks and then switching back to Auto.

I've never tried that, because I've assumed returning to Auto would override tweaks.

If you've already explained the Auto/Manual connection, please feel free to just link to it.

Hi Frank,

Using Digital 3D Mode calibration we can get a comparable 3D film immersion experience, as we get with analog 3D film.

Digital 3D media uses the default stereoscopic 3D parameter of 15%, that was established for consumers components early on.

*See NVIDIA PC control panel showing the default z-plane parameter percentage:

The "visible depth" control can be set for 100% of cpu processing.

This is what we do when we change the Depth parameters on the LG TV that are only made available in "Manual" mode.

Re: Auto
What I find "Auto" does after I have manually accessed the 3D Depth parameter, is that it will lock the expanding z-plane graph-point structure to the original director-intended aspect ratio, and still visually resolve available depth that is present from the media source.

In the same context, I found that if you own an Oppo 103/103D, 203/and or 205, you can increase parameter access via Manual settings of 2D->3D Depth, changing default 8 to "16", and setting 3D output to "Forced", visually expanding native-3D depth.

Paul,

Thanks for your response.

Looking at some of the LG menus in the screenshots near the top of this page,...

I'm reminded the only movie I watched at full strength (-10, +20) was Ratchet & Clank 3D.

Might put that back in to better understand what takes place when switching back to Auto.

Not sure where you're based, but here in Australia - we have strict consumer laws. Meaning that if a $10,000 TV starts looking like shit and not performing up to scratch after only a couple years of usage - 12 month warranty be damned. It's reasonable to expect a TV with this price tag to last 5+ years at least.

They offered to change the panel, however this option would lose the 3D, which is completely out of the question. Unfortunately, IMO these panels will suffer burn in if used to watch anything with a static image - so stick to only watching 3D and 4K movies.

I'll be grabbing an Optoma UHD51 for all my 3D viewing from now on.

I’m in the US but I’ve had concerns as well with 3D. It’s being phased out so once these TVs go bad or get heavy burn in....you’re screwed. I’ve called LG twice but I just get the run around. So many channels have static images so it’s really unfortunate. I think sports channels are the worst (followed closely by news channels) because you have the logo in one corner and the score box in another followed by the ticker on the bottom.

You bring up a great point and had I know just how susceptible my OLED was to burn in...i would’ve taken your advice and just used it for 3d and 4k.
