Perhaps this is a bit premature, but, in excited anticipation of this full-length restoration, I humbly submit the following:

They've gone to the trouble
Of restoring The Bubble
Add 21 minutes
From start until finis
You can see how my joy would be double

Hi bavanut,

You are not only a lover of 3D but a poet too. Bob would be wise to include your homage in the linear notes as being representative of all our anticipations leading up to the complete release.

“A floating tray?” I hear you say,
Have you gone quite mad?
It’s true, you’ll see
Watch The Bubble with me
And you’ll reach out as though it were there!

An original uncut print was also discovered and screened not so long ago. A few of us were in attendance and can confirm that there is some highly effective 3D among the previously lost footage. However the edits were effectively made by the films director, and I wouldn't say the shorter version of the film suffers from the cuts.
Thanks for the information. I am satisfied with The Bubble and its strong 3D, and feel it's lengthy enough to tell its story effectively, so an additional 21 minutes would have to really have some amazing 3D shots to consider an extended 3D version if that ever happens.

I'll have to watch this again soon.

I'm curious if any 3-D gags were cut from the 91 minute version. For a preview of what might be on the Roadshow disc, checkout the 'Screenplay excerpts of deleted scenes' feature on the current release.

I understand that a new full length version of this movie is in the works. Will this thread be the one to follow it, or will there be a new thread?

From what I've heard, the roadshow version will be a completely new beast. I'd recommend a new thread but I'll leave that up to someone at the 3-D Archive or a moderator.

Same film, same thread. Every other film with multiple cuts has only one thread and the roadshow cut is already being discussed here.

The title has been updated and the first post will also be updated once release details of the roadshow cut are available.

Not only additional minutes, but the PQ will be improved. Also included I think will be some extras.

Improved in that color timing will be superior and dirt will be cleaned.

Otherwise, it's still a 4K scan from the original 35mm camera negative so it cannot look any sharper.

How could you afford a 4K scan way back then? Wow!

I still haven't got past the first few minutes of this as I was having some real audio synch issues, which I found incredibly distracting. The 3D did look great, though.

Pleased to hear a more complete release is coming (which also acts as an incentive to watch my copy in full finally in order to justify the purchase!).

It appears others have experienced the audio issues as well, but not everyone. As a test, I played the opening of the 2D version through my TV and the audio was perfectly in synch. In 3D through my projector it was off.

Probably released in 2021 as they are focusing on the 3D titles that have not been released.

Looks like the original is now out of print. Not at Kino, Amazon or even Ebay. Looking forward to the new release next year or however long it takes

Amazon.ca appears to have a couple copies at least.

Not overly cheap, but not OOP prices either -- around $30 shipped to the US

Unobstructed View (another Canadian site) seems to have some stock -- I don't think they ship to the US

Apparently it has developed a decent following since it sort of mirrors the Criterion B&N Sales and some of the Flash sales though I think only at 40%.

The Canadian section in the Deals forum has a few threads

Once shipping, Tax, possible customs, etc are figured I think OV ends up the same or cheaper esp with the decrease exchange.

Since the theatrical cut is out of print, will it be included on any future release of the Roadshow version?
