The better time would be after the story is complete. After Episode 9 comes out and they're ready to release all 9 on 4k. This is, quite possible, the dumbest time to release it.

Well...re-read it again. There’s a quote and a link, both coinciding together needs no explanation. I don’t even use reddit.

From a buyer's POV, it would be better if they release them all together when Episode 9 makes its way to home video, but almost every studio's M.O. is the cash grab, as we all know. So to them the eve of 9's release would be the perfect time. Does Disney do movie money type stuff for tickets? They'd probably release 1-6 and R1 the same day the presale for Episode 9 tickets go on sale. Just saying, it's like marketing 101...possibly, I don't really know haha. Sort of makes sense though

Look at Jurassic Park. Universal released the 4k set of the first 4, so many people bought it, even though we all knew better. Same with Predator and I'm sure many other franchises throughout home video history.

Makes sense to me, and good to hear! You know their gonna release TFA and Ep 9 individually before any kind of a sequel boxset, for the double dip.

I'm not expecting these on 4k until 2020 at the earliest.

To be fair, I would release them Separately and as a nice 9-film set once Episode IX hits Blu-Ray/4K in 2020.

This is what Iíve been expecting for years. A 1-9 set in 2020.

Yeah, it would be weird for them to release a boxset this year of I-VII+RO.

The smarter move would be to release all of the movies individually and make each one its own collector’s edition type thing, with the original version finally restored and included for each of the original three. I’m the weirdo who’d also love them to throw in the ‘97 version (which never made it past laserdisc either) and the theatrical prequels.

They said 1-7, but I could genuinely believe it if they meant 1 AND 7. This year is the 20th anniversary of TPM, so I could see a release for that. I could also see a release of 7 before 9 hits. There's no way I see the rest of the films. 1, 7, and R1 are all I could see releasing given how slow Disney is with UHD releases.

I think Episodes 4-now will look good on 4k. I'm not sure how 1-3 will look, with CGI being most of the movies.

Will ANH have the 20th century fanfare at the start?

The same reason being...? The prequels are not missing anything and with the originals form a complete set and story. Adding only VII doesn't make any sense not matter how you slice it. Either exclude it or include the respective sequels (which is impossible considering that IX only comes out at the end of the year).
