I would love Pirates 1-3 on 4K BD, I consider it a trilogy and the one I want. Let's hope 2020 is the year it gets released.

While sooner than later would still be better, 2023 would be the 20th Anniversary of the initial release of the first movie, so they may want to do some kind of big anniversary release in 2023. That's not to say they wouldn't be working on the individual movies throughout this 3 years, but it may or may not be held for the 20th Anniversary.

Like I said, I would still prefer an earlier release, but it's something to keep in mind. Also, I recall something about the Franchise being rebooted, or new movies being made, might any 4K Release be tied into that, as well?

So far it's only watchable in HD (I live in the Netherlands, we already have a trial Disney+ over here), but that's not saying anything. Inside Out is HD only aswell, but we all know there's a 4k release already.

I have no doubt Disney has the 4K’s done. I think they are holding off the releases for the rumored reboot.

I’m holding out hope we get one more with Depp. Or they just continue with Will and Elizabeth due to the post credits scene in 5. I liked the rumors of a Calypso vs. Posiden movie.

I also tend to think Barbosa was going to be the new Davy Jones.

If itís another sequel and they donít bring Depp back then I wonít bother with it.

These 3 movies have the potential to be the best catalogue options on the format, the old blu rays still look amazing.

You can bet the final DI was 2K though. Would gladly welcome an HDR graded presentation regardless.

4 just plain sucks.
I mostly agree. No interest in 'Stranger Tides' on UHD but the Pirates Trilogy, that might look/sound spectacular in 4k.

Im actually surprised that Disney hasn't already released these in 4K. They could have when Dead Men Tell No Tales came out. They could have for the 15th anniversary.. I'm guessing they will in 2020.

I watched part of the first one on D+ a couple nights ago. It doesn't look near as good as I thought it might. Not sure what's going on with it.

I'm not surprised. When #5 was released Disnee had only just got involved with UHD disc and they were basically ignoring catalogue content. Still are when it comes to live action from the actual Disnee catalogue, the recent fire sale of UHDs from Pixar, Marvel and LFL has glossed over that point.

If I’m Disney I’m releasing these with Jungle Cruise. Same action/adventure genre based on a ride.

These look better in 4K, but you can tell Disney+ is limited. I’ve seen better 4K on Vudu.

All of the Pirates movies are on Disney+ in 4k & Dolby VISION!

Looking at the original three, it looks a bit sharper and cleaner. That's about it. the image looks a bit off as an improvement and HDR deepens the image a bit but its also dimmer. However, steaming doesn't offer the finest with the HDR I'm sure. Considering that along with compression.

This doesn't mean the 4k discs will be the same but its the closest we have to a 4k image for these movies thus far.

Downside, No ATMOS tracks for the first four movies on Disney+
