Default Who would like to see some Hitchcock titles on UHD?

Now this is a dream, Vertigo would probably look fantastic in 4K, any thoughts?

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen, in tonight's program we find the members of a media entertainment forum finding little to no objection to the publishing of my works to the latest and greatest format. What little objectors we had here had also objected to their sudden and irreversible inability to breathe. You simply cannot please everyone."

Vertigo and North By Northwest would be a dream come true. Glorious Vista-Vision in 4K preferably with DV. Movies such as Psycho and Rear Window probably wouldn't benefit as much from the upgrade.

Sure.

Would love to see the entire Universal collection done again in 4K (especially since a few of those films needed a restoration badly). Sadly, as they couldn't even be bothered putting any work at all into some of the lesser titles - the chances of a 4k seem nill. Not so sure we'll get the Paramount title.

But I would think they would at least do a smaller "essentials" collection.

Sure, Hitchcock in 4K would be nice and the big titles will come out on the format eventually.

But honestly I'm more interested in releases of the Hitchcock movies that don't even have a HD release yet.

There's the possibility of the VistaVision titles coming to uhd (with hdr, of course), I guess, in the future. I think it's likely (how well did Kwai sell?). I think it would be fair too.

The other titles however I don't think so, and that's all right with me, since I don't think they need an uhd release anyway. What would we get? Better resolved grain? I can live without them in 4k.

I would hope against hope that 4K would mean we finally get a proper restoration of The Man Who Knew Too Much.

Default 4K HDR would be a very good thing...

The biggest problem of all is whether any of these would sell. The addition of HDR to the 50's and 60's movies would be, most likely, a huge enhancement to these movies. BUT they would all need to be cleaned up and that takes time and money and the question is would it be profitable.

The redone Star Trek Next Generation was meticulously cleaned up, rescanned and even added new effects due to the way the show was produced. Beautiful Blu-Rays. Problem: they didn't sell enough to break even on their investment. That could be the case of Hitchcock movies.

If someone would come out with a 4K set of these movies, for me, it would be a no brainer. Maybe they do one or two and look at the sales and move forward from there. I hope so, I think these would look wonderful in 4K HDR or, better yet, Dolby Vision.

Well, me for one. So to speak. What I mean is that Hitchcock is not at the top of my list for movies I want on 4K. I'm not even sure if he's in the top 50 or 100. Probably not even close. This will probably get me blacklisted, blackballed, or whatever but if it came down to it I would take Straight Talk over Hitchcock right now to have on 4K.
