I recently watched the Blu-ray again in my theater (I use a projector) and was reminded just how beautiful it looks. It didn't look like video to me at all. To each their own.

No, not all the time, but sometimes. I do agree that at times it looks great, but other times less so.
I have the Scandinavian BD & I don’t whether or not that makes a difference.

You do realize that Fincher uses a metric f*cktonne of computer-generated effects in all of his films, right? Most of them are not obvious and look like practical effects.
