Kind of necro-ing here, sorry. I've had this player for a while, but one setting still baffles me. In the picture menu, you can choose between ycbcr and ycbcr422. Which is preferable and why? If you choose ycbcr you can then choose between 30 and 36 bit deep color. If you choose ycbcr422 deep color is greyed out.

Any help demystifying these settings is very much appreciated.

Do you guys ever have issues where the player will stay turned on and nonresponsive? The only way to fix it was to unplug and replug.

How do you remove the angle icon from the top right of the screen during playback?

Edit: It disappears, but thought I read somewhere a while back that you could disable it.

Default Judder at 4K

So I guess no one has issues with judder on the upscaling to 4K?
I changed the video output setting to 4K this summer and just played Arrow's The Day Of The Jackal Region B Blu-ray and the judder was terrible. Set the output back to 2K and no judder, does anyone know the reason and cure for judder with this player.
Thanks, Trevor.
P.S. the TV is an LG OLED. Interestlingly, the LG's motion processing did remove the judder and gave the picuture a smooth (not filtered) appearance. It's the first time I've used this processing but I'd prefer not to use it.

I found the answer. There is a player TV setting "HDMI 1080P 24Hz" that I didn't initially notice (you have to scroll down to find it). This setting (ON/OFF) is confusing, when outputting 1080P (2K) it makes no difference to the picture but when outputting 4K this must be set ON to prevent judder. Hallelujah.

I haven't used my player in a while and over the weekend I tried to play some of my DVDs on it and the message I get every time is "No Disc". It is almost as if I cannot even detect the disc that is inside the machine. Strangely enough it plays Blu-rays perfectly fine. I hope it is a fixable issue because I have a ton of region 3 DVDs and that is the only player I own that I can play them on. Anyone else haven't trouble playing DVDs on their player?

Sounds like the laser is having issues. Cleaning might help.

Just FYI, I just picked up the 4k Wrath Of Khan combo. I put the blu-ray into my Seiki BD-660. Note: The blu-ray disc has the directors cut and the theatrical cut on it. When I got to the point where you choose what version you want to see, the Seiki BD-660 freezes. I had to turn the power off/on to get the disc out. I put the same disc into a newer Sony player and the same disc plays fine. *♂️*♂️*♂️

True to a degree but the main reason any player can't play a BD disc is usually firmware related. The manufacturer stops updating the firmware and it pretty much sticks a fork in the players reliability.

Has any one heard about a company called "Wonnie." It looks like it has picked up where Seiki use to be. Currently on Amazon.ca they have a region-free blu ray player on sale for $110.49 CDN (Reg. price is 129.99). They sell the same stuff as Seiki used to sell. Hmm...
