The German BLU of CIRCUS WORLD can currently be gotten in the 3 for 20 deal at Amazon.de, which is a good deal for me, but I can't find any information anywhere regarding the transfer and whether it's the same as the UK one, which generally got favorable reviews. Also, does it have any extras?

Does anyone have any info on the German release? Thanks.

As a German, I have

It´s a region B disc and the picture quality is stunning. It´s the same great transfer as the French blu-ray.

It´s a BD 50 disc.

Thank you for the information!

Can you tell me if it's 5.1? The listing says 2.0, but the UK release is 5.1.

Also, any extras?

I´ve just put my blu-ray in the player and it´s "DTS HD Master Audio 2.0 Stereo

So no 5.1.

Extras: German Trailer, Gallery with some photos, Biographies of cast and Crew.

Thank you for letting me know! Too bad they only did a 2.0 on it. I guess I'll hold out for the UK release.

I appreciate your help very much.

Sad news. Maureen O'Hara, leading lady in so many great John Wayne films, has passed. I think the first John Wayne film I ever saw in a theater as a kid was Big Jake. I have always remembered the red-haired beauty who starred as his wife. In all the years since, in her films including The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939), The Quiet Man, McLintock!, and the wonderful How Green Was My Valley, in cinema as well as in life, she was always the model of class, grace, and ageless beauty. One of my favorite actresses from the time I first started watching movies.

Knowing she is gone, and that she has been a part of my entire life, the world feels emptier today. RIP.

Quote:
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – Actress Maureen O'Hara, the Irish beauty who appeared in such classic films as "The Quiet Man" and "How Green Was My Valley," has died.

Her manager, Johnny Nicoletti, says O'Hara died in her sleep Saturday at her home in Boise, Idaho. She was 95.

O'Hara came to Hollywood to star in 1939's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and went on to a long career. "How Green Was My Valley," a touching 1941 drama about a Welsh mining family, won five Oscars including best picture.

She became John Wayne's favorite leading lady, appearing with him in "The Quiet Man" and other films. And she was little Natalie Wood's mother in the Christmas classic "Miracle on 34th Street."

She's survived by a daughter in Ireland.

RIP Maureen. One Duke's very few leading ladies who could command screen presence as much as John Wayne. Think I'll watch McClintock in her honor tonight.

Maureen O'Hara was never nominated for an Academy Award and then they gave her an Honorary one. Shows you what the Academy knows...

One of the greatest actresses of all time.

Of course The Quiet Man is the crown jewel but I loved her in Parent Trap and Only The Lonely with John Candy and many of her other films.

I just bought McLintock on Bluray and Hunchback Of Notre Dame on DVD today because I noticed they weren't in my collection!

On her Wiki filmography Maureen comments on nearly every film she has made and dishes on some of her co-stars.

Rest in peace, Maureen "O'Hara" FitzSimons

Maureen O'Hara was in a class by herself. An amazing person who enlivened the screen and the lives of those around her with grace, warmth, laughter, and dignity. Her smile says it all. Thanks for the memories.

Hey guys, just watched The Comancheros last night and was pretty disappointed overall with the film. Lee Marvin was the highlight and then quickly dies. I also have Hondo and McClintock! on my radar. How do these stack up to The Comancheros?

Hondo is classic Duke, one of his best westerns from the 50's.

I also was disappointed by the Comancheros. McLintock is much more enjoyable, but bear in mind that it's more of a comedy with a western setting. Furthermore, it's an early 60s comedy inspired by Taming of the Shrew, so there's a lot of humorous bickering between Wayne and O'Hara including the good ole' putting her over his knee and spanking her, plus lots of wacky, harmless fistfights including a big set piece involving a hillside and a giant mud puddle, so it's not a film that's to be taken too seriously.

I love The Comancheros, an exciting Wayne western with a brilliant Elmer Bernstein music score, I've loved it for years, but each to his own. I like McLintock, but you have to remember it is a comedy
[Show spoiler]it's one of the rare westerns where no one dies.

And with the exception of a starter pistol, I don't think Duke even fires a gun.

As far as I know the only two that came with a slipcover (and they both still should) are Rio Grande and The Quiet Man.
