I only see t-shirts, hoodies and footwear. The top menus have changed
The majority of BD and UHD were pulled last week, and the remaining ones disappeared over the weekend. Maybe this is location based as I used their .com.au URL? What is it like on the .co.uk and .com addresses?

I just checked .co.uk and it still has BD and UHD, so they must be pulling this items from international URLs?

It's the same for the .de site. Only shirts and hoodies and not much else. But changing the region helps.

It cannot be a coincidence that now all of the international sites are missing the menu categories and links to movies. But nary any information or tweet about why this is so. Keep people in the dark.

Zavvi messed up Zavvi UK website and other Zavvi regional websites this morning
Earlier his morning you still had the option in setting regional and language to United Kingdom and shipping to outside UK and do an order from Zavvi UK website if you had a delivery address based outside UK

Now if shipping set to outside UK you can't change regional and language to United Kingdom

This now means there is no option to order DVD/Blu-ray/UHD releases from Zavvi UK/Zavvi Ireland/Italy/France/Germany etc etc if delivery address is based outside UK

Zavvi EU websites not even listing DVD/Blu-ray/UHD releases

I sent a private message to Zavvi on twitter awaiting there reply as to when will be fixed

Zavvi replied to me the following

Hi, you may have noticed a few changes to some of our Zavvi stores and the removal of various products across certain locales.
We are sorry for any disappointment caused by this
We do have some exciting plans for Zavvi that we can't wait to share with you in the future!

In regards to Zavvi reply to me
Not sure what exciting plans in the future will mean

I think it is just a matter of time before they only ship within the UK like HMV.

That sounds dreadful. Hoped it was just a mistake, not actually a conscious decision. I never had the best ordering experience with Zavvi, but at least they still shipped everything to Germany, not like Amazon.co.uk were more and more items became excluded.

I'm not surprised about this. Since Brexit, shipping has become a mess there.
I got hit twice with customs with Zavvi orders, so I stopped ordering there.
But I've heard from other people who were still ordering, they got hit with customs and then had to send a copy of it to Zavvi and would get a refund.
Guess they got tired of all that crap.

If they would only use IOSS like it's supposed to they wouldn't be in this mess.
Deepdiscount is using it right. Rarewaves is using it right. So why can't they ?
It can't be that hard.

How about the EU rescind the IOSS system, placing a tax burden on foreign companies was a daft idea anyway.

I wonder if Zavvi will ship the existing pre-orders to customers outside the UK like Base.com / Hit.co.uk did.

I never had customs issues with Zavvi in regards to any of my orders shipped to Republic of Ireland

That's with orders shipped from Zavvi Guernsey warehouse that used IOSS (Shipped using Guernsey Post) and tracked orders from Warrington warehouse that was shipped using a courier

Most my orders from 2021 was shipped from THG Warrington warehouse
Tracked delivery shipped using Fedex Cross Border International Connect (FIC) who then passed on parcel to Fastway Ireland Courier who then did delivery
Vat was paid to Ireland Revenue
Fastway Ireland courier are a licenced customs clearance agent

Zavvi rarely use Zavvi Guernsey warehouse now to ship orders unless it's stock from a few years ago as in before 2021
Majority of UK DVD/Blu-ray/UHD orders since 2021 was shipped from THG warrington warehouse and are tracked delivery

UK DVD/Blu-ray/UHD releases are mostly UK/Ireland releases which is why they have UK BBFC and Republic of Ireland age rating certs logos on the discs and packaging

No reason for Zavvi to stop shipping Physical Media Products to Republic of Ireland as Vat is paid to revenue in Republic of Ireland on all orders shipped

Zavvi are still accepting orders with delivery outside UK for Clothing and Homeware products that still involves Vat to be paid

There is some other reason behind Zavvi stopping shipping of Physical Media Products to delivery address outside UK
Zavvi websites are still accepting orders for other products (Clothing) and homeware products with some Zavvi regional websites to a delivery address outside UK

They don't use Royal Mail for International order so that can't be the reason and you can still order Clothing and Homeware products

I got hit twice at the beginning of Brexit so I stopped ordering there.

But I've been following a Belgian and Dutch forum about it and it was nothing but problems.
The occasional order got through but most of them didn't.
People always had to show a receipt or proof and then they would get a refund.

You are aware that IOSS is not mandatory, right? It is just an option for sellers outside the EU to make things easier for their customers inside the EU and make their prices more competitive (since without it, the customers will not only have to pay their local sales tax, but usually also the courier's handling fee, which in some cases can be quite hefty and therefore makes the product more expensive).

UK sellers are perfectly free to sell to the EU without utilising IOSS.

The big issue for UK sellers is the export documentation, and that was and is always going to be the case, just as it is for any country outside the EU, or indeed outside the UK or any other market. That was always going be a problem, once you decided to leave the common market and your biggest trade partners.

Besides, you could start with yourselves. The UK has the exact same legislation in place and asks sellers outside the UK to register and collect British VAT at sales point for any order below £135. The fact that it does not really seem to be working currently, and that most of you appear to slip through without getting hit by customs, is probably more a testament to the total disfunction of your current administration.

As you say this is an illustration of the incompetence and dysfunction of much of the public sector in the UK with the Government trying to run services at lowest possible cost.

The tax rules are clear that if an overseas retailer sends an item under £135 to a UK resident (even if it costs 1p / 1c) then they should have charged the UK based customer UK VAT and have remitted the VAT paid to UK Revenue & Customs with this being correctly noted on the customs declaration.

If this wasn't done then customs should block the items entry to the UK and either make the delivery company return it to the retailer or it should be destroyed. Blatantly this isn't happening as many retailers continue to ship to UK without charging VAT and items get through whilst other get stopped.

Contrast with countries like Germany and Denmark (to a British person noted for the efficient public services) where non IOSS items are stopped and the customers made to pay the VAT (tax).

Getting back to Zavvi, if exports outside the UK for video are permanently stopped I personally don't blame them given the number of complaints on here from people being charged tax despite them supposedly being IOSS registered and then hit and miss if Zavvi refund the customer. Would suggest that exports are a very small part of their business so why bother, stopping makes sense.
