Even if LeBron wanted to add Golden State to his list of options, his sponsors (especially Nike) would have a say as to whether it's a viable option or not (and it's a safe bet that they will nix the idea in the blink of an eye). From a marketing standpoint, the Warriors are as appealing as the Clippers, which is nil. This is not to say that Cleveland is a better destination, but they can work with the 'humble midwestern roots / hometown / blue collar' angle that these Californian locales lack.
As for the reason the Clippers will NEVER land a top-tier player like LeBron or Wade in free agency I have two words: Donald Sterling. The guy has never shown the slightest interest in putting together a winning team. It's entirely about making money with that guy.

Sterling might be the worst owner in all of professional sports. Ok, Al Davis (Raiders) and The Glazers (Tampa Bucs) are right there with him at the bottom.

No one seems to mention Miami. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they have tax exemptions down there? I mean he does want to be a billionaire. Wade & James would be insanely crazy.

I guess you mean state income taxes. Florida is one of only 7 states in the U.S. with no personal state income taxes. The only states in the U.S. that have an NBA team an no state income taxes are Florida and Texas.

States like NY and NJ have very high state and local taxes, especially on high income earners. For an average multi-million dollar earner like LeBron the difference in taxes between a place like NYC and Miami can be 10-20%. That can definately push players to want to play for a Florida team.
