Though the storyline is a familiar one, the movie is still a fun one. Still has the macabre humor as the 1991 movie along with a few humorous jabs at those home makeover shows and their hosts along with jabs at social media hysterics. The good news is that it didn't rely on rude or childish jokes for its laughs.
The voice cast is pretty good here with Chloe Moretz, Nick Kroll and Allison Janney as standouts.
Don't expect this being a carbon copy of the live action films. It's it own thing (no pun intended there.) and while not perfect, it's still manages to be enjoyable with some solid 3D to boot.

I already had my 3D ticket for tomorrow night purchased but I am glad to hear its GOOD 3D.

THe movie was a lot of fun. Want to see it again since I was dozing off because of working at 1:30 this morning. Want to see it in 3D next.

I'm a big Addams fan since the TV series, which I caught on reruns as a kid. The movies were also pretty good. I think this animated version is just passable, and probably really meant for the youngest kids. I neither hated it nor loved it, it's just "meh"

It's pretty much as weak as a movie can be and still seem worthy of theatrical release - maybe just a notch above Uglydolls or whatever that one was called. Largely because of the cast and the fact that it's still a well-known IP, it's bound to make some $$$ initially but will probably lose a lot of business to Maleficent.

Also, I watched the 3D version and you could barely tell it was in 3D. Maybe it just needs a brighter screen - it wasn't showing in Dolby at the place I caught it.

A notch? This was better than Uglydolls by a country mile. As for the 3D, I was fortunately enough to catch it in a theater where their screen were lit properly.

Honestly? Not a bad movie.

I never really took issue with anything, but nothing was really spectacular either. It was just decent. The story was ok, the soundtrack and voice acting was also ok. The writing was ok. Everything was ok.

All in all, I liked it but I don't know.. I just prefer the 90's live action movies. 3/5.

Speed Racer is a fun movie, wish it did better at the boxoffice...like so many other movies.

Personally I would give the Addams Family animated movie 3 1/2 stars but that option wasn't there so I decided to be generous and round up to 4 stars.

I enjoyed it also while going in with little expectations. I thought Wednesday stole the show. I did not see it in 3D due to only 2 showings that were at the wrong time for me and my wife. If it's available on 3D Blu Ray, I will buy it. I'd like to hear more comments on the 3D from those that saw it that way.

Thumbs up

I enjoyed it. I put it a notch above the Hotel Transylvania movies, which I also (mostly) like. But who cares what I think? My GF is a long-time Addams fan (mostly the original show), and she liked it a lot. So give it a shot, it's better than the trailers.

Absolutely the way to go with this character. The movie could have used a lot more Pimp Itt!

Just saw it and am shocked at how much Lurch looks like Michael Shannon. I thought Michael Shannon must have voiced Lurch and they rendered the animation after him!

That's actually a great point. In hindsight I almost wish they had gone with him!
