Love the sound Maggies make, what they lack, and it really isn't much, is more than made up for with my Mirage sub. Most people run a sub in thier home system anyway. I let the maggies breathe and the mirage does the work, together they make wonderfull music.
Good analogy - Maggies breath and subs work! Maggies are sweet!

First speakers I've seen that live up to the $80,000+ price tag.
Apogee Grands or Divas? Apogee something I know that very revealing speaker and killer on amps, but with the right power - beautiful music!!!!

Almost 7 feet tall huh (or am I thinking about the 2+2's)? Do you have the Medallion transformers on these or stock? Great speakers though

My dad was a Maggie lover for many years and then I convinced my dad to buy a pair of Von Schweikert. He never regretting making the change.

I have been using Gallo reference for the last few years:

http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/gallo5/ref31.html

Before that I had a set of M&K for my theatre which I am now just using the mains in a 2 channel system.

For a brief period I was using NEAR (New England Audio research) top end speaker though I am not sure if they are still around.

I am trying to avoid audio stores or I might start looking to change my speakers. I don't think the Von Schweikert dealer is still around in Singapore but I did always liked Thiels which are around

I am a little torn on my main speakers now, I enjoy the Gallo Ref 3.0 but sometimes want something different just for 2 channel audio

Mine are just under 6 feet tall, and are completely stock. I've heard of some people changing the bass drivers for something else that can keep up with the 'stats a bit better, but I'm not aware of a Xformer mod?

They are in my theater, I am a glutton for punishment.

I actually know of 1 person who own Vandersteens. Like 8 years ago or so there was a Vandersteen dealer in my area, I listened to them quite a bit. They are a unique speaker, with their driver array, cabinet design, and of course crossover design.

I am/was a huge Vifa fan, and Vandersteen uses/used Vifa drivers. I liked the way they sounded, but they had very strict listening position limitations among a few other things that kept me from buying.

I always liked the Von Schweikwert's but they no longer have a dealer in Singapore. Otherwise I would probably consider Theil or B&W but best I just not thinking about changing speakers. In the HT world, it just gets too expensive as I would then have to do 5 speakers instead of 2. Will look to upgrade my TV later this year instead as nothing wrong with my Gallo Reference, just always interested in something else

This thing uses the attic as your subwoofer enclosure. Low frequencies + long wave lengths = large enclosures ... like an attic!!!!!

Wow, that's a great looking desk fan! I've been eyeing that thing in the Sharper Image section of SkyMall Magazine.

That's why half the price is consultation, design and construction.

Wonder how my neighbors would like it......

OT: CLSIIz on ebay right now. Nice walnut frames with (allegedly) $3,500 worth of cables included.

I have owned Platinum Audio, Snell, some Magnepan 3.6's and currently own the Aerial Acoustic 8b's. I love the Aerial sound and would like to someday trade up for the 9's.
