As someone who has read a few comic books, I would rather watch an exciting Sci-Fi epic like the Guardians of the Galaxy than a bland Black Panther movie.

Btw, Idris Elba would make a great Black Panther (if he wasn't playing another Marvel character in Thor). He's the best African-American actor in the business right now.

If our choices are between exciting and bland, I choose exciting also All things being equal, Black Panther sounds like a much cooler story than Guardians.

I agree about Idris Elba. He's one of the best actors around(who cares about race)

Bland is one thing Black Panther wouldn't be. Not to mention, more black superheroes would definitely be a plus. And right now War Machine, Falcon, Black Panther, and Luke Cage are our only bets for any type of Avengers connection. Luke Cage being unlikely at the moment. I neglected to mention Nick Fury because he isn't technically a superhero, or part of the field unit.

Alright, maybe not bland, but definitely the least interesting stand-alone Marvel properties to me. The Black Panther character has never stood out in the Marvel universe to me i.e. Avengers Earth mightiest Heroes. I'd rather see Marvel doing a Doctor Strange or Iron Fist movie first before a Black Panther movie. However, if anyone can make this an entertaining movie it would definitely be Marvel. They know their characters.

I like Chiwetel but he's not intense enough to play Black Panther.

Elba is British by the way - I didn't know this until I saw an interview with him. This guy NEEDS a superhero franchise. If he can't get the Green Lantern role, then he too would be a good Black Panther.

Chestnut and Chadwick Boseman are good actors but they aren't intense enough too. But I guess Chestnut seems to be the best choice if they want to pull in the youth and the ladies.

He is playing Algrim The Strong/Kurse in Thor The Dark World, so yeah I would say he is out.

Elba couldnt be Panther as he was already Heimdall in Thor. Yes, Evans was Captain America and Human Torch, but the FF movies were not part of the Marvel Universe we're working in here. It's Fox's B-universe.

another tweet from Chestnut seems to confirm Panther will be in Avengers 2, if not his own film, and that he's at least being considered for the role:

Quote:
Not final. #BlackPanther may be in #avengers2 first. RT @jamaal91604133: @morris_chestnut Can't wait to see this movie. #BlackPanther
I like the idea of introducing some of the smaller characters in Avengers 2, rather than give every person a solo film first. Not every character needs a solo film. Maybe Ant-Man and/or Dr. Strange will also make their first appearance in Avengers 2. Only time will tell...

Or, they may appear like Hawkeye did in THOR... Cameo in an upcoming Marvel film, and then expanded role when The Avengers 2 rolls around.

What ever happened to Wesley Snipes doing the The Black Panther....
I think he would own the role. Or if the studio think hes is too old then he could be King and pass the reigns down to his son!!!

Have you seen Black Dynamite? Its one of the best parodies/homages ever, it does what many parody films fail to do...make the acting believably bad and not in your face.

Yeah, but when he's too old for the part now. Panther needs to be younger.

Yay! Let's make a movie about one of the most boring, uninteresting comic book heroes ever.

He's in Thor, and that's the same universe (unlike Chris being Cap and Human Torch).
