Paramount Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)

Quote:
He’ll be back! James Cameron, who regains certain rights to his prized creation The Terminator in 2019, is godfathering a new iteration of the film that might finally get it right in drawing a close in the battle between humans and Skynet. Sources said that Cameron, whose copyright reversion happens 35 years after the release of the 1984 classic, is in early talks with Deadpool director and VFX wiz Tim Miller to direct a reboot and conclusion of one of cinema’s great science fiction tales.

The "happy future" ending of T2's extended special edition is my preferred ending to the franchise, but I'm sure I'll see it.

It will take a helluva lot to get me interested after the pile of dreck that was Genisys.

Reboot? Probably for the best after Terminator Genisys. I liked the first 4 films (I think the original is amazing) but very quickly sold off my copy of the fifth. Didn't like it all.

I liked Genisys. For me the only anomaly was the boring-ass Salvation.

But it's Camerooooon! Him shilling Genisys is one thing, him being actively involved in the making of another Tahminator is quite another.

I haven't full on disliked a Terminator film yet, but if Cameron is back and he's enlisting Tim Miller, yes please.

More than who the director is I'm worried about the writer and the premise. No point in making any other Terminator films if they can't come up with a halfway decent idea to justify them.

The only way to wrap this up is to leave the happy ending of Terminator 2 off and pick up from the origianl John Connor timeline where the changes of T2's timeline didn't effect his. So in a sense, conclude the story of the original badass John Connor while Edward Furlong's Connor never had to become the resistance warrior.

A reboot and a conclusion to the series? Terminator: Oxymoron.

This franchise is a ****ing mess.

I'll only be interested if Cameron gets a "Story by" credit. They should just ignore 3-5 and do a proper T3 with Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong and Arnie.

By getting Tim Miller, I'm guessing the franchise is going back to it's low-budget roots.

Just make an official followup to Terminator 2. Ignore 3,4 and Genesis, and somehow work it so Skynet had a backup somewhere..

Surely 6.4 Million wasn't exactly low budget in 1984..

Maybe Cameron can make a deal with Fox to distribute it, and eventually we might get an AVPVT (Alien vs. Predator vs. Terminator) film!

I'll be game if they make it like the third. That's the best one obviously.

Umm ok, I'm listening.

Although I don't believe for a second that if it's good and/or even moderately successful, it'll be the conclusion.

I actually liked Salvation and Genisys, but Rise of the Machines is easily the low point. Yes, I said it - the most recent one is better than the third.

This makes me very happy. Genesys was such a bland, boring, and uninspired movie.

I'm up for another Terminator film as long as it ignores Genisys. And I hate it when sequels tries to ignore the previous bad installment as if it's going to do any better. But Genisys was bad to the point where it completely ruined the continuity. Genisys doesn't get enough hate, actually. That movie erased the actual GOOD Terminator movies. T1 and T2 never happened now, and they killed off freaking John Conner. Like, WTF!? How can some people go easy on that movie?
