This'll be one of those films where there's no point in getting one's hopes up until you're literally about to sit down and watch the darn thing. I remain cynical but hopeful.

I agree. I enjoyed 4 and 5, but yeah 3 was just the worst. The occasional 'cool' scene but drab acting.

Oh, I'm interested.

Make it a direct sequel to T2. Bring back Arnie (use the de-aging tech), Linda Hamilton and recast John Connor with Norman Reedus in the role.

I'd actually agree with this. Rise of the Machines is the weakest entry in the franchise whilst Salvation held great promise it unfortunately didn't quite get there despite the cast involved and Genisys actually isn't a bad watch although I do get why people compare it to maybe more to Rise of the Machines. Still a better movie though.

My biggest problem with Genisys had nothing to do with the film itself. Rather, all the trailers spoiled the main plot point from square one. I think that's why it suffered at the box-office: everyone knew the twist months ahead of time and they decided to whine instead of checking for context.

I liked Rise of the Machines a lot & also Genisys. I don't know how I made it through watching Salvation though I thought the DC would be better but nope, still just as bad a film as it was when I saw it in theaters.

I would LOVE IT if Cameron and Miller ignored T2's pomp for once and truly went back to the series' gritty roots.

A gritty low to mid budget Terminator film with Tim Miller in the director's chair could really be magical. Or hell...what if Miller is just on as producer and SFX overser, while writing/directing duties are handed off to It Follows creator David Robert Mitchell?

That would make one hell of a comeback for this franchise.

It would really like a true sequel that ignorered all the sequels since T2.

This franchise is a ****ing mess.

I'll only be interested if Cameron gets a "Story by" credit. They should just ignore 3-5 and do a proper T3 with Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong and Arnie.
Isn't Furlong still in jail?

If Genysis proved anything its that both Arnold and the de-aging CGI tech are both more than sufficient to work in more films going forward. Don't get me wrong the directing and writing was bad in Genysis which hurt the T-800 as a character with all that horrible comedy, but Arnold is still psychically capable to play the part, and to think that the de-ageing application in Genysis was some what rushed in post production.

If Cameron comes back you can bet that a lot of time and effort will go into making the film as good as it can be regardless of budget. It will be far more polished than T3, TS and TG.

Nope, no more Terminator for me. Genisys was completely and utterly unwarranted and strained beyond belief, even with Cameron involved, the franchise has reached it's end point by now.

Everything post-T2 is garbage, but i'll give this new film a shot if Cameron is involved.

T1 and T2 never happened now, and they killed off freaking John Conner. Like, WTF!? How can some people go easy on that movie?
It tried to do something different it tried to shake up the story and actually give the series some longevity. I cant fault it for that as i still have T1/2 sitting here on Blu and watch them in sequence anytime I want.

Or this.

As much as I'd love for a final one to get it "right," perhaps it's time to let it go, like the Holy Grail cup in Indy III, lol.

Now? You guys wanna bail now? Right on the cusp of Cameron getting back the rights?

If Stallone's taught us anything, it's that you don't go out on Rocky V...

How can you reboot it (ugh Christ!) and make a conclusion to the franchise???

The franchise is dead, destroyed, milked dry. Cameron or not you can't save this now, its a joke.
