I think the downside to them been owned by one studio is it's unlikely we'd see many more standalone X-Men or Fantastic Four pictures. I can't imagine a studio that's currently making 2-3 MCU movies a year adding X-Men movies, Wolverine spin-offs and Fantastic Four movies to an incredibly crowded schedule.

I'd love to see some of my favourites crossover, but I'm not sure at what expense.

Interesting news (I think it was rumoured a while back?), it would also mean, Lucasfilm will get the original Star Wars distribution rights.

I never noticed they changed their name to 21st Century Fox before.

Not good, Bob!
I'm not sure how true that is. We've seen how successful their Marvel and Lucasfilms buys have been. I don't think it would necessarily mean they'd be shutting down the divisions. They might move some stuff around- cough *X-Men/Fantastic Four*cough, but otherwise I could see them continue to operate independently. It's not like Marvel Studios or Lucasfilm were shut down and shuffled into Walt Disney Studios.

Otherwise though, I'm not sure how I feel about the loss of another large studio. I'd rather a variety of distributors and studios out there, and losing one further skews to the industry to the big players.

Original, unaltered Star Wars on BD/4K?

Yup. But again, Disney/Marvel can get F4 without getting, like, EVERYTHING Fox currently owns...

Well, Marvel got Spider-Man back from Sony. Yet we are still getting a rated-R Venom movie. So I'm hoping Disney lets Fox still do their thing, while also having access to take X-Men characters and add them into the MCU as they wish. The X-Men continuity is f***'d up anyway.

I don't think Disney has ever directly made an R-rated movie, but their subsidiaries definitely have.

Wonder what will happen with Lucifer if this deal goes through. It is based off a Vertigo series (which is owned by DC).

The only reason we haven't had that has nothing to do with Fox, it's Lucasfilm that's been dragging their feet. But if they do buy Fox it might give them the final push.

I hope Fox rushes Apes/Omen onto UHD before something like this goes through. It would be tragic if the 20th catalog falls into the hands of Disney who aren't even concerned about their own catalog.
