It came out on tv (not the theater) like in 1971. I have only seen it once as re-run on tv. I guess I would think that most people don't know of this movie.

I'm with you JDub, this is a lesser know Title!

Just becuase you, I and Steedeel know of it, doesn't make it any less a lesser known Title.

Blind bought this last week and I really enjoyed it! It's a lot of fun with a great cast. I personally rank it with some of the greatest newspaper flicks out there such as Ron Howard's The Paper and Spotlight. The new Cohen Media blu ray release is great as well. Excellent restoration!

I don't know if this has already been recommended but

The Jericho Mile -1979

it is a solid film about prison life and is directed by Michael Mann who also directed such classics as Heat, Thief, Last of the Mohicans and Collateral.

Just watched a devastatingly realistic 1984 made for TV docu-drama called Threads about a nuclear fallout in Britain and it's after effects. It's a very dark, terrifying, depressing film but it's also very well made and well worth a watch.

Mike (The Haunting of Hill House, Oculus) Flanagan's first film. Extremely creepy and disturbing, with one of the straight-up bleakest, most hopeless endings I have ever seen in a horror film.

This may have been recommended already but:

Come And See (1985)

The best war film I've ever seen; the ending is really thought-provoking, and maybe a little traumatizing. There are some really grotesque scenes, so not at all for the faint of heart. I'm really glad I got a chance to see it, but probably will not watch it again, one viewing of a film like this is more than enough.

This gets a pretty mediocre rating on imdb/metacritic of 5.6 so perhaps not for everyone but I think it's a lovely comedy and I really love it.
I liked it, too! Eddie plays a stock broker who gets tips from his 8-year-old daughter's drawings. I really liked the little girl's performance; it seemed very natural and fun. So I immediately bought the Blu-ray.

(And the girl grew up to be Yara Shahidi from Blackish!)

89 pages was too far to see if this had been posted before:

It's a bit of a slow burn but is a terrific drama featuring a very young Ed Harris.

Quixote's Coop at Bucketheadland
USA Street Scene (King Vidor, 1931)

Street Scene.jpg

A wonderful & fascinating gem of a film that touches on quite a few topics from adultery, bigotry, bullying, gossip, judging others, prejudice & racism, promiscuity & more, all in a brisk 80 minutes. Really good performances all-around, but Sylvia Sidney & Beulah Bondi stand out among them. Shades of Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing & Woody Allen's Manhattan come to mind while watching this.

The entire tenement district set including the elevated station was built on the back lot of the United Artists Studio in Hollywood. If you look closely at the end of the street under the twin staircases that go up to the train station you'll see they used a huge painted backing to extend the street. Not sure if it was in any scenes prior to Street Scene, but Tenement building #346 would be seen again 5 months later in Roy Del Ruth's 1932 film Taxi! with James Cagney & Loretta Young.

Sweden A British gem from 1982!

"Who Dares Wins" (also called "The Final Option") - Made by a crew that worked on a lot of Bond pictures, on location in London and with a climax taking place on the Pinewood Studios Lot

A great thriller with Lewis Collins in the leading role.
