Who else digs this one? loved it since i was 17 when it first aired on Toonami and i also watched it uncut on tapes.

One of my faves! very well made and could had inspired Serenity/Firefly.

Watched it on Toonami(including the Midnight Run) and it's showing on Adult Swim so I picked up the uncut Anime Legends DVD boxset which included the unaired episode.

While not as much of a fan, but I still quite enjoyed Outlaw Star's spin-off series called Angel Links.

I'm happy that Funimation rescued both series.

Great series. Hopefully one day a blu-ray release comes to the US.

Huge Outlaw Star fans over here in my wife and I. The similarities with Firefly are more than striking, there are absolutely lifted from Outlaw Star in the original premiere episode. That's also where they end, I didn't mind it too much. Get me started on Witch Hunter Robin and La Femme Nikita (Peta Wilson) and I sing a different tune.

Default Warning: incoming TV Tropes link!

Love Outlaw Star. Always felt it functioned as a sci-fi fantasy counterpoint to Cowboy Bebop. And it actually has a good dub!

Although the girl in a box trope isn't mutually exclusive to either OS or Firefly.

So I know that Funi got this recently but it was never announced if it was making it to blu or not.
I really hope it does.

Now that you've gone and jinxed it, I fully expect it to be announced in the Anime Classics line.

I don't care how the packaging or whatever for Outlaw Star is on Blu-ray. I just want an English Blu-ray release with good picture and audio and no S.A.V.E. cover.

This is more what I meant than anything....not jinxing it! I'd rather Bebop quality than Lain.... Sold my Lain BD's and sticking with my Geneon dvd's....

I tried posting this reply once but my post seems to have dissapeared into the ether, so i'm trying again.

I've been very eager to get this for a very long time. This is a brand new AVC/4:3 1080p transfer from the original 35mm film source and the show looks gorgeous. These are large images so i've linked the URL instead of embedding them.

Just got my AL set today and the video is gorgeous! The old faded Bandai dvds pale in comparison to this set. Anime Limited really did good on this one in spades.

Really dig Outlaw Star, and I've watched my copy of it about 3 times so far.
I'd love a BD of it if it gets a English Dub release here

The Anime Limited set is really not that expensive-all you need to play it is a bluray deck that can play region B discs. If you go over to the Blu-ray Players and Recorders forum here there are a couple of threads about that.
