Honestly I like him, its realistic that he is unable to let go of the values and view points he grew up knowing. I mean he's a total douche but I like the interactions he has with Bortus.

Bortus should divorce Klyden.

Even with the "protection" the Planetary Union is offering the female moclan society, they'd likely be all killed anyway. I have no doubts there will be serious repercussions for firing on that ship despite being provoked.

I was referring to a Moclan style divorce. The dead can’t fight you for custody.

It's really amazing how many former Trek actors have been on or involved with this show. Kudos to that.

One thing I have to say though, as good as these episodes have been they cant help but be a letdown after that awesome 2 parter. That really should have been the season finale.

Bring on Season 3 though

I disagree with you, LegacyCosts, they were only forced to let those who have already escaped live, though still in exile. They chose a better tactical situation over enforcing the letter of their law. They haven’t changed, they still force females to undergo sex change surgery, just not the ones in exile. (Edit: And, don’t forget, they’ve been found out now, and there is no longer a way of escape for the women.) I think this opens things up for a lot more development.

Though I’m beginning to really dislike Klyden, I think Bortus is too much like Worf to kill him, meaning, he joined the union for a reason, I don’t think Bortus completely agrees with the ways of his people, and I think we’ll find more of this in future eps.

I thought it was great that Frakes directed an episode with Marina Sirtis in it...b4 Dscovery, the two of them were trying to get something going, and they work well together. Not only the actors, but, donít forget, Brennan Braga, one of the Executive Producers, was involved with a lot of Star Trek, beginning with s4 of Next Gen.

...We have 2 eps left...the last one could be an amazing cliffhanger...or...just another episode, but, I have a feeling it wonít be disappointing.

(Good episode, by the way.)

Good episode Thursday night and am curious about the season finale now, as it looks like the events of this episode will have ramifications.

I also saw the opening sequence was severely cut down to just the title shot and the ship going quantum. Hope that's not the new thing because I've always liked that opening credits sequence.

I missed the first half. But the rest looked good.

That sucks if it's shorter. I didn't like that when they did it to the Stargate shows.

I was a really good episode. It will be interesting to see how that impacts things going forward.

Hopefully the short intro was a one-off, perhaps to have more time for the rest of the episode within the allotted time slot. Maybe they edited it down as much as they were comfortable with and shortened the intro to keep more of the other footage in. I could be wrong, but it seems plausible.

For being a blatant rip off of the tng episode second chances with the 2 Rikers it was done well and a lot of thought put into the dialogue. The ending is what really made it though...

[Show spoiler]
I mean, Ed wouldn't even be captain of The Orville or probably even be alive without Kelly among numerous other things. If it wasnt an alternate timeline it sure as heck is now. The only real question is if they are going to stick with it or a find a way to reverse it all.

There were at least 2 episodes of the original Star Trek series with 2 Kirks, so I guess TNG episode you mentioned was a rip-off, too.

If it was just a matter of 2 of them there would be dozens of examples across many shows. But in Second Chances, there is an accident which causes an early version of Riker to be created that is at first at a loss over what to do, tries to date a now ex of current Riker, clashes with current Riker, then realizes he has to go on his own way. It's all very similar, even though like I said The Orville episode actually has more depth to it and a more interesting ending.

A lot of Trek episodes were rip offs too, doesnt necessarily make if a bad thing.

Did anyone notice in the preview for the season finale that it appears that Orville explodes?

But it easily could be a misdirection since the fleet has many ships with the same design.

I dont remember how many times Voyager, Enterprise, etc blew up in their respective shows. I think DS9 even blew up once. It never meant anything due to time loops or whatever.
