Yeah, you are probably right in that VAT should be removed, but was not.

However, I look at the overall price and not having VAT removed was not going to prevent me from saving more by participating in the sale that is not available at Amazon.co.uk.

Yes, I am very protective of mine. That's why these days I only use it for stuff that it's better at than the other players. Mine is one with the original "loader" as Oppo calls it, it's kind of unusual that it's still going, I stopped keeping track once it had over 8000 hours on it. Whereas the 93 probably only has 200 hours on it, it's not in the main system.

The cheap-ish Sony all-region player plays "everything" (incl. SACD and DVD-A), handles the latest audio formats on copy-protected BDs without dropouts, and does 3D, plus upscales to 4K if needed. Things an 8-9 year old player won't do. And the 83 is built like a tank, much better than newer Oppos even. The Sony is NOT built like a tank, just the opposite.

Arrow sale on now until Monday August 6th.

Lots of good stuff on there, especially if you live the region-free life. Pro-tip: for single disc items, order in multiples of 4; once you hit 5, shipping goes from 2.25 to 7.50.

My order this time:
Caltiki: The Immortal Monster (the last Arrow Maria Bava release I didn't have)
Stormy Monday
Too Late For Tears
Woman on the Run

Any idea about possible duty charges? I order from Amazon UK fairly often, but I've never ordered directly from Arrow.

I've never had additional charges from an Arrow order, but I think I'm generally luckier than most, judging by some comments on this forum.

You won’t have to pay any duty fees since they mark no commercial value on their packages. However, if you choose the express shipping option, they will send it with Fedex who will then harass you with letters afterwards to try to illegally collect duty fees.

Also, for those of us who don't always gamble, Arrow's got a pretty decent selection of films on iTunes right now for $4.99 each. I think more titles than last time.
Not all the iTunes copies come with iTunes Extras, just be on the lookout for the logo.

I noticed it includes Seasons of the Witch and The Crazies for those looking at the Romero Collection.

another Arrow Christmas sale :

https://arrowfilms.com/

standard shipping for 4 or less titles is £2.25. if you order 5 or more that jumps to £7.50. BE WARNED THEIR SHIPPING IS SLOW. My last order took about 7 weeks if i remember correctly.

express shipping is via Fed Ex so you'll get dinged for taxes and handling.

THIS IS A UK SITE SO BE AWARE MANY TITLES ARE REGION B LOCKED. although there are some Region A friendly titles as well.

Arrow Easter Sale

https://arrowfilms.com/shop/members-only-easter-sale/

You have to be logged in to see the deals.

I ordered:
Outlaw Collection
Scalpel
Bloodthirsty Trilogy
The Baby
Incident in a Ghostlant
Orgies of Edo

Items were £55.00 and shipping was £9.00 but I used my reward points to make the shipping only £0.22. The order still came up to $100.56 CAD though because of our crappy dollar.

minimum shipping is now £7.50 (it use to be £2.25) so best to just order whatever you want. even if it creeps up to £9 or more it will be cheaper than splitting up orders.

also worth noting that Arrow's shipping to Canada has been super slow in the past. expect more than a month. some of my orders have even taken 8 weeks

Actually it is still £2.25 shipping for up to 2 titles (instead of 4). As for the shipping time, I really wouldn't expect it to take a month since we are not in the holiday season. I have made at least 3 different orders since the beginning of the year during their different flash sales and I got them in 2-3 weeks.

Also, if your order only contains regular editions (no boxsets), you can order up to 8 titles for the £7.50 shipping charge. Then it goes up to £10.50.

this is strange. I initially tried to checkout with a single title and the shipping was £7.50, however that was a 2 disc set. But you're saying 2 titles would still be £2.25? I assume they'd be single disc? even still, it doesn't make sense that 2 separate single discs titles would be less expensive to ship than a single double disc title...

It depends on the title. I put the Outlaw Collection by itself and it was charging £7.50 but then I put in a non-LE title and it was only £2.25. So in my case it was just cheaper to order everything together.

I ordered 1 dual-format release, and even threw in one of their books and it was still £2.25 shipped.

So weird... So if I put a third item in it would bump my shipping up three times. Meaning it would be cheaper to just make two orders! Unless I happen to order something that arbitrarily goes to £7.50 on its own?

Indeed, I just checked myself and with 10 titles the shipping was still £7.50. I think I had a boxset in my cart when I made the prior test. Actually they calculate the shipping cost by weight. Their system seems to work like this:

< 0.250 g = £2.50
< 1kg = £7.50
< 1.25kg = £9.00
< 1.50kg - £10.50

and so on
