You know, I haven't bought a tennis game since Virtua Tennis on the Dreamcast. However I may just have to pick this one up! It looks damn fun!

I honestly had no interest when it was announced, but I agree, it's looking really fun. The demo will be made available on 5/24 and with the online tournament following shortly after, we should get a pretty good feel for what the game will be like.

With the motion controls, this should make a pretty good party game.

Do you think they’ll have a Mario Golf next year? MT & MG usually follow each other.

I'm still scratching my head as to why there hasnt already been a mobile version released. Of all the Nintendo IP's in existence, Mario Golf seems like the biggest no brainer for the mobile market.

I would actually really get behind and sink money into a mobile golf if handled correctly. Personally I'd much rather have golf than Mario Kart.

You can get double Gold coins if you pre-order this on the eShop.

FYI the demo is available for early download for the online tournament.

I downloaded it and went into the game, just to check out the menus. I can already tell this game is going to look really good! The color palette just pops so much and character models look great! I'm really excited to try this game out.

For some stupid reason Nintendo of America is making you wait until tonight (6PT, 9ET) to allow you to play the demo on their servers, if you downloaded from the US eShop. But, if you download from the Japanese eShop, you can play the demo right now.

The Japanese demo is in English, if your Switch is set to English.

I can't play until then anyway.

I think this game is going to be a sleeper hit. It looks awesome!

Me too. Either I fail to initiate the Star shot, or I do buy it goes flying into the sky (or right into the net). Why can’t it just be “normal” tennis?

When the actual game will be released, you can turn this new functions off and play it without those special moves. I´m also quite bad at those right now and will need more time to learn them properly. But I like the options and depth they potentially are bringing to the game...

I have played a few matches now and I think the game is fun. What I don't like are the special shots. I have not once managed to block one and have been knocked out two times because all my rackets broke.

Hopefully the adventure mode will have lots to do. I wish they would bring back the old rpg style from games like the original Mario Golf for the gameboy color.

Eh. Kind of what I was afraid of.

Mario Tennis Aces is a return to form for the Mario sports brand, infusing the tennis video game formula with the proven hooks of competitive fighting games. That’s the good news. The bad news: In no way does Mario Tennis Aces recreate the magic of the role-playing/sports hybrids in the Mario sports series that were published on Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance.
I was really hoping they'd make it more like the handheld games.

But in the end

Quote:
All of this would be hugely disappointing were it not for one simple thing: Mario Tennis Aces is a fantastic arcade tennis game, debatably the best of its kind since the glory days of Sega’s Virtua Tennis franchise.

I bought this the other day with GCU and my kids have been having a blast with it. I remember the Virtua Tennis days and how much fun I had and I haven't played a tennis game since so this has been a pleasant surprise.
