Default Denon and Marantz Get IMAX Enhanced Update

My next A/V receiver might be a Marantz or Denon since I like the IMAX Enhanced Home Theater certification. In the old days THX Ultra 2 certification was a strict certification program that only a select few A/V receivers received. Now the latest certification to meet a certain quality level is IMAX Enhanced.

I hope Pioneer and Yamaha well release A/V receivers that are IMAX enhanced certified. Without reading a professional review and doing on hands testing, certifications like IMAX Enhanced well be a quick way that consumers can check to see if they are purchasing a item with a certain quality level.

"Sound United has announced a firmware update that will make the Denon AVR-X8500 AV receiver and Marantz AV8805 AV preamp/processor the first AV components equipped with IMAX Enhanced technology. IMAX Enhanced is a program developed by IMAX and DTS that certifies digitally remastered Ultra HD/HDR video with immersive 3D DTS surround sound for delivery through certified audio and video products that meet performance standards and incorporate a proprietary suite of IMAX and DTS technologies."

"So, to answer your question (finally!), I wouldn’t shy away from investing in IMAX Enhanced AV gear (and also discs, although only two examples are available as I write this). That’s because the IMAX Enhanced AVRs and preamps that have been released (by Denon and Marantz, with more to come) provide compatibility with other immersive sound technologies such as Dolby Atmos and Auro-3D. And the available list of IMAX Enhanced TVs (so far, only high-end models from Sony) all also support Dolby Vision. Taking all that into account, buying IMAX Enhanced gear is all upside, with no downside."
