Smile Speaker wire

Hello I was wondering if it's ok to run speaker wire (16 gage) right next to hdmi
cable? I am planning on replacing my 16 year old speaker wire with new and going to run it along the wall this time hiding it behind burlap type material.

No problem.Just don't twist the different types of wires around each other.

Speaker wire can age well... it is the shielding that may dry out and crack exposing the wires... are you seeing that in the wire you're replacing? If the wires have been in once place for a long time and not abused they should be good for another 16 years I'd think.

There was no abuse to the wire, actually in pretty good condition, just concerned that they will get oxidized if thats even possible.

I don't ever want to stand in the way of someone updating their a/v gear just for the sake of upgrading , but in this instance I think I'd want to actually test if I could hear the difference before committing, maybe only run one speaker and do some a/b testing before you go all in on replacing it all.

I appreciate the advice Roar, it's just something I was thinking about doing just to do it.
