Default Wonder Woman 3

Quote:

Patty Jenkins Already Knows the Story to ‘WW 3’

We’re still about six months away from the release date of Wonder Woman 2, but director Patty Jenkins and her filmmaking team are already thinking about Wonder Woman 3.

“We actually already know the whole story to [Wonder Woman 3] and then some because there is an Amazon [spinoff] movie as well and so we already have it all mapped out. It’s just a matter of will we change our minds and when.”

Jenkins did caution, however, that the wait between Wonder Woman 1984 and Wonder Woman 3 will be longer than the wait between the first two movies. She essentially made both films back to back, carving out time to direct a couple episodes of a limited series in between. But Jenkins told reporters that she and Gadot both want to take a bit of a breather:

“I think what we don’t want to do is do it back to back. It’s been great doing these two movies back to back, but I think it’s important to give it a little rest in between. And I like doing other things in between. And Gal has other things to do. I never want to make decisions too far in advance. We have to see if we both feel like making the movie we think we want to make when the moment comes.”

It took me a while to realize the Amazon movie was not a movie shown on Amazon's streaming service.

It sounds like they are trying to create a Wonder Woman Cinematic Universe.

I don't know if I'd consider a 3 year gap "back-to-back", but okay.

I want as many Wonder Woman movies with Gadot as possible. She is so perfect. It's like Hugh Jackman with Wolverine. We were blessed to get so many movies with Jackman's Wolverine. So Wonder Woman 1984 will make it Gadot's 4th appearance as Wonder Woman.

Some actors are so likable (same with chris evans' Captain America and Fassbender's Magneto) yet they dont do so well in their non-superhero films. They are great in their other movies too but they dont get as much recognition in their other films which is why I want them all to continue playing their famous superhero characters forever so they dont disappear from Hollywood. Same thing happened with Chris Reeve or Mark Hammil. Just famous/popular in their big franchise roles.

The first trailer didn’t do anything for me. In fact I am now less interested in seeing it. Hopefully the second trailer will boost my interest. The first film was a surprise hit for me so naturally I will watch the second one but I am just not excited. As for a third, might want to wait until this one comes out before you start talking about a third film.

Not sure how I feel about an Amazon spinoff. I found the first act of the the first WW quite boring. It wasn’t until Diana & Steve left for England that the film held my attention.

It means the next one will be a four year wait.

I'd down.

And I think I would be down for an Amazons spin-off, as well. I could totally see that. Of course, it all depends on the execution, as always.

The only thing I'm bummed about is the longer gap. I understand what she means, but that doesn't also mean that isn't too bad.

It probably feels back-to-back for Patty Jenkins because they started development a few months after the original film came out. And don't forget that the film would've been out by now had it not been delayed.

These comments directors make of "Back to Back" is a complete joke. They took a break already and they make millions in the process but somehow a "breather" of another 3 years is needed

To me, i'm not saying that they shouldn't take a break, but at the same time, it's silly to imply you have a story to rock and roll but want to drag production out for release in maybe 2022/2023. If WB maybe wanted to drag it out to let other DC releases fit, fair enough.

I understand why, from Patty Jenkins' perspective, it's "back to back", since the life-cycle of a big-budget production is measured in years, especially when you add the prep work for the Amazonian spin-off in between. But it's definitely not back-to-back from a fan perspective.

Infinity War and Endgame were back-to-back.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm sure there was a small break in filming between Infinity War & Endgame at times but they filmed scenes for both movies around the same sorta time.

The only other movies i know with true back to back filming was the Matrix sequels. I know there's also others out there. However for me, i feel like these individuals in movie making sound so whiny sometimes like "It was so hard(!)" when they have literally a massive crew running around waiting on them hand and foot. Sure, enjoy your success but just give another damn reason than "I need a break" like you're overworked. Just say "I'm looking to concentrate on some other projects i've had in mind for some time before we pick up production on the sequel". Maybe i'm being nitpicky and that's not what she really meant.

These films are factually not shot back-to-back, even though Jenkins might 'feel it' that way.

Back-to-back means a continuous production, often involving shooting the bulk of the live action footage for two or more separate film entries during the same continuous shooting schedule.

Back To The Future II+III, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1+2, Kill Bill 1+2, The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, The Hobbit trilogy and the two Swedish sequels to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Men Who Hate Women) are considered back-to-back film productions.

I caught the first one flipping through channels one day...

At the end all I could think of was - 'This is considered a great film???'. Just another DC CGI pukefest IMHO.

Joker great film, yes. Wonder Woman, not so much.
