After watching the first two seasons of Comic Book Men and all their wheeling and dealing for rare and valuable comics, it got me thinking…
Currently, my most valuable is Uncanny X-Men #266, the first appearance of Gambit. I do have a new "Most Valuable" on the way, X-Men #1 from 1991, the gatefold cover signed by Jim Lee and Stan Lee and CGC Signature Series graded 9.6. Very happy! |

I don't really have too many comics of value. I too have Uncanny X-men number 266 which is probably my most valuable comic. Other than that I own Spawn #1 and Captain America #25 where cap dies, one of which is a variant. I do have the full run of Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-men which might be worth something.

I have uncanny 266 as well, it's probably my favorite comic. I also have a few spawn #1s, amazing Spider-Man 136 (1st Harry Osborne as green goblin), amazing Spider-Man 298 (1st black suit) - I traded 300 for it which I regret and a few bagged superman 75 (death of superman). Not sure on the values of these, probably nothing too great

While it is a bit beat-up, I do have a copy of Tales of Suspense #57, which is the first appearance of Hawkeye
![]() ![]() I also have Avengers Annual #10, which happens to be Rogue's first appearance. |

Glad to say mine would be a Giant Sized Xmen #1 in very good - fair condition i think, haha. Haven't looked at it in awhile...my buddy who used to work at a comic shop managed to find it for me from another dealer for $100 i think

So I think I went a little overboard and added a few more valuable comics to my collection:
X-Factor #6 CGC 9.4 - 1st appearance of Apocalypse (heard he was going to be in the next movie and had to get this.) Amazing Spider-Man #300 CGC 9.2 - 1st appearance of Venom (one of my favorite characters...also may be in a movie...again.) Amazing Spider-Man #361 CGC 9.6 Signed by Mark Bagley - 1st appearance of Carnage. Cannot have Venom without Carnage. |

I haven't bought any comics for a few years now and only have issues of Wizard from 15 years ago to check the prices...
I've got the original Frank Miller Wolverine mini-series from the early 80s. Got a signed copy by Jim Lee of his first issue on Uncanny X-Men. The only ones I'd like to keep really are a few old GI Joes with the Storm Shadow story and my old run of Romita Jr Daredevil comics. The rest I basically forgot what I owned but the price I paid and the supposed value is secondary to the nostalgia of the artwork, stories and time spent shopping and buying them with friends. |

Not sure.
I used to buy/sell them a lot in the heyday, so I know I've got a bunch of the first gambits and quite a few of the first bishops...bunch of early spidermans, first punisher (AS 129) and a bunch of others. Also have almost all of the extremely rare "So Much Fun" variant printings. Lots of stuff I'm getting ready to send in for grading then the ebay auction block. I'm sure I'll get some decent coin on quite a few of them ![]() |

Many years ago I owned a Fantastic Four #48 and a Silver Surfer #1-4 but a few collectors made me offers I couldn't refuse. Nowadays I think what I am most partial to is my complete run of Amazing Spider-Man #298-328 all signed b McFarlane as I used to deliver to his comic book store back in the early 90's so meeting him and having him sign stuff was pretty common.
Also my Dark Knight Returns #1-4 set all signed by Frank Miller who rarely signs, but I was given an opportunity to meet him at a show Dark Horse was putting on back in the mid-90s. I had taken them with me to have Klaus Janson sign them and one of the big wigs at Dark Horse knew I worked in the industry and asked me if I wanted to meet Frank Miller who wasn't scheduled as being there but happened to be. He was quite nice and we chatted about comics and he saw my Dark Knight Returns in my hand and asked me if I wanted him to sign then. I said "Sure!" as I knew ahead of time he wasn't signing since he wasn't listed as a guest, but he graciously signed them all. I have been fortunate to have met literally a ton of comic book creators out there, many of whom I call friends to this day, all have been incredibly nice, some of the nicest people out there work in the comic industry. |

I have a lot of fond memories over the years when I worked in the comic industry, another is spending about four hours with McFarlane at his store, and he telling me about this idea he had that he wants to publish and start his own company. He was showing me all these preliminary sketches and ideas for characters for what would become Spawn. We talked about his Amazing Spider-Man covers original art and what also would soon become Image. Todd is one of the nicest guys in the industry, he took an idea he had and ran with it and turned it into an empire. I will always remember what he said to me during that visit, saying "Jon I want to take this Spawn character to a level where it's a household name" and he pretty much accomplished that. I actually saw him at PAX a few years ago, he was doing a one hour signing and he remembered me and we hugged, the guy is just super friendly with his fans. |
