Cool. I came here looking for a thread like this because I wondered why my official BD count jumped from 126 to 140 without adding anything. I've actually gone back thru my collection and counted the number of actual titles before (the Bond boxes, Austin Powers, Bourne, Spider-Man, The Godfather, LOTR, etc.), so I like it.

I agree with this. The count should reflect the number of movies (or TV Seasons) you have, not the number of discs or blu-ray packages. Otherwise, my Planet of the Apes Collection would count as "1" when there are 5 Blu-ray movies in the set.

I've recently noticed some errors with my blu-ray collection here. Under my profile and "my blu-ray.com", it says I have 263 movies in my collection, but I only have 224. When I click it, it shows the correct 224 movies.
Also, when I "search collection", it shows a few other movies that I do not have in my collection. Anyway to fix this? Thanks Edit: Okay, it appears the 224 movies showing 263 is because of the new tallies feature that counts extra movies on box sets. But what about movies that I don't own showing up under search collection. For example, I searched horror and Constantine and Dark Water showed up along with my other titles, but I don't own those 2. "Harry Potter" box set (the next full complete one) = 1 movie or 7 movies?
"James Bond" (full complete box set) = 1 movie or 22? ...And that is the question. ![]() ![]() ![]() * At the Cinema Theater, can you watch the entire seven movies (or 22) in a row in only one screening? ![]() That's what I also tought... ![]() I rest my case. ![]() |

One title = One movie = One day screening experience.
One BD disc with two movies = Two movies = Two titles. One Box-Set with five movies = Five movies = Five titles. One TV Box-Set with twenty TV hows = Twenty individual TV shows with one TV show per screening day = Twenty TV show titles. * Me it's just the way I count in life. ![]() ![]() ...And Quality or Quantity doesn't have anything to do with it! ** How do you count your money? One dollar at a time or by bundles? What's better, more dollars or cleaner money? ![]() Man! I just luv it! P.S. Should this post be part of the first one from last page, or a separate second post? ![]() Last edited by LordoftheRings; 10-14-2010 at 07:59 AM. Reason: fix |

Thanks for the change. I want to track my movies by title. I'm not interested how the movie studio sold my movies to me. I collect movies, not bundles. So now my Star Trek movie collection accurately reflects the true number of movies I own -- 6, and not 1, as it used to be.

My philosophy is that if a movie comes in it's own case, then I count it separately. If it comes in one case, then I separate them, put each one in it's own case, print artwork for each case, and count them as one movie.

What about "Grindhouse" (first versions: "Death Proof" & "Planet Terror") that came in two separate BD cases?
This is supposed to be only one screening experience; so do you now count it as one title, or two? Now it comes in one BD case and one disc for both films, which is one or two? "Kill Bill Vol.1 & 2"? Last edited by LordoftheRings; 10-14-2010 at 06:35 PM. Reason: ? |

If it's strictly a global change affecting everyone, then how exactly are we deciding to handle TV series or Miniseries? Band of Brothers (miniseries) boxset is 10 hour-long episodes, still just 1 10-hour "movie?" How about a multi-season series box set like Battlestar Galactica - One "Movie" per season, one "Movie" per physical disc in the box set, or one "Movie" per hour-long episode? |

Hmm, OK, so going back to my Battlestar Galactica example, how would the infamous half-seasons be handled, which were aired almost a year apart, and would be boxed separately if you purchase the season boxsets rather than the total series... BSG has seasons 1, 2.0, 2.5, 3, 4.0, and 4.5, four complete seasons but 6 separate box sets...

I prefer for TV seasons it to be 1 title per one hour episode.
So, for Lost Complete collection it would be. Lets say 10 episodes in one season, and 6 seasons in total. that becomes 60 titles in total. ![]() ![]() How about that. ![]() |

From my experience (cataloging software and sites) count a season as "1" title.
