getting ready to order one of these insignias, are there differences in the models NS-BRDVD2, NS-BRDVD3, and NS-BRDVD4? is the NS-BRDVD4 going to be a better player with more features than the other two listed here?

I wish Insignia's players had a better reputation. I'll probably still buy one and hope for the best as it does appear to be the simplest way to get Region Free support on the cheap.

I'm thinking of buying one of these myself, and my first region B purchase will be Solomon Kane. Is there a chance some of these models might still be on the shelf at BB at least as open box items?

I also got a bad remote apparently. I just called Insignia and they were able to order a new one for me! Hope this helps those whose remotes arrive DOA like mine.

Has anyone here notice the difference in Picture Quality between the Insignia and the PS3?? i have both and notice a big difference in quality, the Dark areas on the Insignia look grey-ish kinda like foggy. the ps3 handles the Dark scenes Perfectly. Also maybe its just me but the color on the Ps3 looks more Vibrant more WOW!!! i would like to hear from other members that noticed some differences. and i know its not the different Video codecs from different regions, i played Justified on both players and yes there was a difference.

No my PS3 does not look better. Your Insignia must be defective.

Its been argued all BD players output the same picture. It took a team of calibration experts and special test equipment to find differences that are less than perceptible to the human eye. If you are seeing a difference something is wrong or it is psychological.

Just a FYI (I posted this somewhere in this forum in detail) but EVERY cable (usb, hdmi, etc..) are all alike! This was in a huge article put out by a engineer friend. The ONLY difference is the coating (what covers the wires) and that doesn't effect the playback or info transfer at all. I did a test myself and hooked my stuff up with all monster cables by brother had. Then hooked up the $10 USD cables I bought at Best Buy...not a bit of difference. So, save your money on expensive cables and buy more BD instead...

P.S. - I worked for Hewlett-Packard for many years and after about 1 yr when the usb came out, the engineers told us the same thing because many large retailers were trying to get consumers to buy these 'gold coated' cables that 'are better' !!

thanks for the info!! switch cables and nope same crappy quality, it looks to me that its crushing the blacks, they look like a reddish tint i just remembered my ps3 is set to RGB on the Video settings. maybe the Insignia is in Y Pb/Cb/Cr signal? i know when i had the ps3 on Y it crushed the blacks, i will experiment and switch the setting around for the ps3 and maybe thats the case.

When I was in my BB last night I wondered too and took a look. The only model they had was NS-WBRDVD3 for $99.99. It's the 3D Wi-Fi Built in model.

*forgot to mention, on page 1 it says that model may not be able to be made region free.

Get it!!! After I fixed my video problem, I can't see any difference with the PS3 and the Insignia. I watched 3 movies today with Insignia with no problems what so ever. Get it!!!
