That sucks, mine did that as well I think and now I'll looking for a replacement player. I am using my XB1 but that doesn't help with the region free thing lol.

My NS-BRDVD4 just quit working as well. The blue light (indicating it's turned on) keeps flashing, and it won't read any discs or open the tray.

My ns-wbrdvd2 can't play some of the new Fox titles (Deadpool, The Martians to name a few). It stopped after the Fox intro.

I'm convinced that there is something in the Fox discs (how they're replicated , that is) that is causing certain problems- As mentioned in another thread,I have an Oppo 93 that will not load any Fox BD I own, even those that played perfectly in the recent past

Could this cause by older firmware? I don't want to update lol

Default INSIGNIA - Region Free BD Players

Anyone have the link to the last updated Region free firmware for the Insignia NS-2BRDVD or the BDLIVE01? Can't find them anywhere online. I'm pretty sure the last firmware update was back in June of 2009.

Edit: This is the last Region free update I believe:

Scored an NS-BRDVD3 at a Salvation Army today for $9. Player had a rattle but it loaded DVD's and Blu-ray's at the store so I rolled the dice. Opened up the player and found out it was a loose disc that was making the rattle. Cleaned the laser and spindle motor, did the firmware update to make it Region free and it was a total success. Not a bad day I'd say [emoji16]

Any idea where one can find firmware for this thing? Ideally I just want the most up to date, not the region free version.

firmware instructions:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/145630/Insi...tion Guide.PDF

Note: make sure USB drive is free of ANY files BEFORE you download the firmware to it!!

ATTN:
When downloading the firmware to a USB drive this MUST be done on a MS Windows box it will NOT work using a Apple Mac. The reason is the files are encoded in the FAT file system and Mac doesn't use that type of file system so it isn't seen on the Mac and when you go to install it on the Insignia it will error as nothing on the USB drive. This has been confirmed by myself and 2 others.

after the firmware is correct, this is how to access the option :

1. Turn on the player
2. 'Press' the Home/Setup button (do not hold the button)
3. Enter 9113
4. A configure menu should appear on the left with all the other option icons
5. Scroll through the menu and pick what region the disc is.

Insignias convert PAL to NTSC and play 50hz.

NS-BRDVD4 = no WiFi
NS-WBRDVD2 = WiFi

Thanks to 'HyperRealist' & 'ytsejam1138' for uploading the firmware & some extra info
Can some one help, i have US version of BR-DVD2 and share link dors not work

Are there currently any Insignia 3D blu-ray players available from Best Buy that are either region-free out of the box or with a code, or has firmware available in here that will work?

If no 3D player exists by Insignia, what Insignia 2D player is recommended currently for sale?

Just purchased a "lightly used" Insignia NS-BRDVD4 for $30 on Ebay, did the "Home/Setup" and "9113" code and it worked!

Now we just need someone to post updated firmware links (I knew I should have saved all of them). I have the firmware for the Insignia NS-BRDVD4 somewhere on my PC (typing on my laptop right now), so if I do find it, I will find a place to post it and link it here.

For the three other people who still care about this sort of thing, some of the files in the original post can be downloaded with some searching in the Wayback Machine--just successfully downgraded a thrift store NS-WBRDVD2 for region B playback.

The correct ISO for the NS-BRDVD4 seems to be lost to ravages of time, sadly.

While it’s not listed in the OP the NS-2BRDVD can also be made region free.

If you google search for “ ns-2BRDVD Region free firmware link “ and click on the justanswer dot com results from 4-12-11 it brings up an old link from Insignia that is no longer valid. Just copy that link ( the whole URL ) into the Wayback Machine and it will bring up 3 times that link was saved. Click on the first one and it will download the firmware. I tried it and loaded it into my NS-2BRDVD and it works fine.
Search for NS-2BRDVD Region free and you will find info on how to use the region free firmware as the codes and use are different than the other models.

Hi I tried to do that, and it works for NS-2BRDVD region free link, but it doesn't work for the NS-BRDVD3 region free link. There's only one on 4shared but it was never saved on wayback machine. I would love to be able to hack my player, but without the firmware no luck, if anyone still has it and could send it to me I would appreciate.

Figured I would stop in and share the news, but I finally located the region free update file for the NSBRDVD3. I thought it was deleted from my PC, but it turns out one of my kids messed around and renamed the iso file. If anyone needs it and wants me to send them a copy of it, shoot me a private message.
