Default My 2.37 anamorphic 7.2 setup.

This is my multi purpose family room/theater. I would like to build a dedicated room, but finances at the moment have kept me from doing it. All of the movie posters are originals. No reprints. I started buying posters to decorate the room and it became a hobby.

The Force is strong with your equipment

Love the Bond posters too and that Thunderball poster with Sean Connery in his underwear cracked me up

Its actually a wet suit, but to each his own.

Where do you live? Obviously you are a Hog fan. That loss yesterday was painful. I live in Fort Smith.

Thank you very much. You have a very nice clean setup yourself. I would like to have darker walls, more along the lines of what you have, but my wife has other ideas. I am lucky to have a room to "play" with.

That is bizarre that you can't find Paradigm's easy in Canada. You think they would be everywhere. Your Polk speakers are nothing to be ashamed of.

I did some research and for the price, I couldn't get even close to the perfomance of the speaker setup I have now. I think I paid around $5000 for the entire setup. I have tried Nordost Blue Heaven speaker cables and some custom made Silver cables from Signal Cable. I ended up using the Analysis Plus Solo Crystal, bi-wired on the front three.

My system images extremely well. Eventually, I would like to have a dedicated room with an acoustically transparent screen to place the speakers behind the image. If and when that happens, I will pick up another Studio Reference 100 for the center.

Thanks

Going from an HTib to seperates will be a pretty big jump. There are many theories on where to spend money to get the most bang for your buck. Also, depending on your room size and shape, a 7.1 system might not be necessary. So you might be able to save some cash by going 5.1(of which the majority of home setups are).

I would first decide on how much you would like to spend. Then you need to decide on how much of that budget you are going to allocate for speakers and how much on processing/amplification.

Don't throw out the option of just going with a good receiver such as the Onykyo line. They seem to value prices and have good power and great features (bitstream decoding of HD audio codecs, audyssey room correction). 105w per channel for a very efficient speaker is plenty of power. Again, depending on the size of your room.

As far as speakers, there are to many good ones to discuss just one brand. Don't rule out looking at used (audiogon.com is a good place). Also check out the "deals" forum on this site. I have seen some great deals on speakers posted there. I would try to go as full range as possible on your front soundstage. Don't forget to save some room for a sub woofer.

Don't rule out the idea of taking some of your existing HTib speakers and using them for your sides and surrounds. You could save some money there that would be nice to use on your other speakers.

Again, like I said earlier, there are so many determining factors it is hard to discuss all of them in one post. Take your time. Do some research and have fun.

Keep in mind that all rooms are not suited for a 7.1 sound system. To set up an ideal 7.1 system, you will need room behind your listening area. If you have your couch or HT seats against a wall, you may be better served with a 5.1 system.

Just my opinion. No sense spending the extra cash on speakers when you may not benefit from them. Do you have a drawing with dimensions of your room. BTW, you may want to start a new thread so this one doesn't get hi-jacked.

Yeah, I noticed that Oklahoma beat Texas last night. They are both over rated.

I still can't believe that we are not in the top 25. We annihilated Oklahoma and played horribly against Texas and still won.

Are those wrinkles to the bottom-right of your screen? Would be a shame for such a nice setup!
Otherwise love it - I'd love to upgrade my Paradigms, but it's a tough case to make to the wife when my wee Titans sound as decent as they do...

Oh, and the giant french Bond poster? Color me jealous!

It is a tensioned screen. The wrinkles work out after about 5 min.

I will be going to a fixed 2.35 setup this year at some time. Trying to find a deal on an Isco/schneider 1.33 lens.

Well, after having a little conversation with my wife yesterday, I am getting "permission" to do some remodeling to our home theater room.

New paint.
New trim.
2.35 screen and anamorphic lens.

It will take some time to get finished. We have some other things on our plate at the moment, but it will get done this year!!!!

I just purchased a used ISCO II anamorphic lens! I am very excited! I got it for a really good price to boot. So the transformation will begin soon. Can't wait.
