Did the latest C2 update break CEC? I ask because as of today (well, yesterday, now that I look at the time) my TV refuses to control my receiver or even pass audio through ARC/eARC. I tried greeting the TV and even the individual inputs. Nothing. The only thing that worked was disconnecting everything from the TV and then connecting each HDMI port one at a time, starting with input 2 (the ARC/eARC port) directly to my receiver. But the Simplink only took briefly and now it's back to only producing sound from the TV speakers and remaining silent otherwise.

Didn't break mine. If anything I thought my surround speakers sounded better now.

Is there a thread for 4K television recent purchasers who will have various questions, think of it as a thread for "LG OLED For Dummies"? I recently bought my first OLED, the 65" C2, got an amazing price and the recent promotion involving half-off their latest sound bar (SC9) when stacked. I have yet to hook it all up, that time is coming eventually when my remodel is done but I know I am going to have a fair amount of questions that most here would probably find laughable. I sold off my Panasonic plasma three years ago and have not had a TV as I have been waiting for the right time, always knew I wanted an LG OLED, especially when I would see the screenshots people would post up of movies such as The Dark Knight, etc. I also bought some HDMI cables on Amazon and bought the Panasonic 820 series player. I just hope when the time comes, I can ask questions on a thread and not make myself look a complete moron. Thanks in advance....

I can't guarantee you won't look like a moron but you can ask your questions here when the time comes and someone will probably answer.

I have the 77inch C2 and the 820 myself!

Goo resources are rtings.com, here and of course Google.

And who cares if you "look like a moron", 5 minutes later, no one will remember and no one knows who you are. I've asked questions, some answered, some not, but never felt stupid or was made to look stupid.

Thanks guys I may do that, or reach out via PM if people don't mind. I am not quite ready to hook everything up, still need to find a stand I like and finish up some remodeling but everything does look quite nice still in their boxes at least. I have never owned a sound bar, always relied on my TV speakers on my Panny plasma so this is all quite an upgrade for me.

Lately on my LG C2 65" (w/Panasonic UB820), when I stop a movie, during the brief moments when the Panasonic stops playing and shuts off, I'll sometimes notice some slightly blotchy, lighter areas on the dark screen (in the upper left and middle right).

I don't ever seem to notice it when the screen is displaying dark scenes during the actual playing of movies, and I've only had the TV since the beginning of the year (~5 & 1/2 months), so I don't think it would be any sort of burn-in. But the lack of black uniformity during those few seconds now & then worries me that maybe my panel/screen has some sort of issues affecting my picture quality without me realizing it.

Does anyone know if that phenomenon is just from sort of noisy signal from the TV or player during certain transitional moments, so that the TV is just displaying lighter patches as it's instructed to, as opposed to revealing any sort of inherent burn-in?

I got burn in on my 65” B6 so, I’m looking to upgrade to a C3 come Black Friday.
What’s the general consensus on the new sets? Are they a worthy upgrade over last year?

Very little difference in the C3 compared to the C2 of last year. It's only if you consider the G series which has the MLA panel; a major upgrade over the G2.

I second the person above who posted the AVS Forum link...I keep the AVS C1 thread open all the time and feel like I learn something new every day about my TV, so by all means try there. Usually the first post in the thread is updated to contain the high level stuff that might answer a lot of your questions.

Or just get a C2 now and enjoy the savings AND months of TV watching. They're on sale all over the place.

This is what I am doing....getting myself a 77" C2 to maximize the return of my investment. Can't beat the price, especially with the Best Buy Totaltech plan. My builder just finished building my new house, so I will have Geek Squad install it on the wall around June 15th, once I settle on the place. Add 4 new Atmos speakers, the Panny 820 4K player and the Denon 3800 AVR, and I will have finally upgraded my gear for the first time since 2011. Can't wait to experience 4K in all of its glory!

Sounds like a winning strategy to me!

Got my refund back from Crutchfield today on the defective 65" B2 i returned. was looking around and happened to notice that Sam's Club had dropped the price on the B2 down to 1199.91 and it was available for shipping. Used a link i found to get $40 off a new Plus membership. total came out to $1390 shipped (membership included) with a 5 year extended warranty from Allstate and it says that there should be a $100 streaming credit as well. here's to hoping this round goes better than the last in the panel lottery. 90 day return policy will come in handy and hopefully if there's an issue they've got enough stock to send me a replacement if need be.

I always buy TVs from a brick and mortar shop specifically for the return policy, it provides me with piece of mind.

I like what I read about the LG C1 and C2, but was wondering if there's any other LG TVs that also produce a good picture, but sell for cheaper?

Thank you.

Look into the LG B series such as the B1, B2, B3. It's a step below the C series, comes in a little cheaper, and many people are satisfied with them.

Wanted to add that I just purchased a 77" G2. Was thinking the C2, but could not find a 77" in my area, so I ponied up the extra $800. This set should show 4K in all of its glory with the Denon 3800 and Panny 820 that just arrived too.

Default LG G3 IR blaster issue…

I’ve got an LG G3 and cannot get the supplied IR blaster to work. Do I need to enable anything in settings to allow it to work? Thanks in advance
