How would you guys change the settings in the second panel to get more details in the dark areas without washing out the overall picture too much? Pic 1 is a Samsung 9000, Pic 2 is Oled B6...both out of the box

Is OLED's supposed lack of motion blur comparable to Sony's impulse mode?

Have you ever seen an Oled perform in person?I have, and I can tell you that motion blur is a non-issue when you apply "de-blur" to your settings

Tough question. You have a lot of settings to play with and they all interact with each other. First, you need to figure out what gamma you want. Then you have to adjust brightness, contrast, oled light and the 2pt low and 20pt low settings individually and then you may have to go back and make minor adjustments to the other settings. Its possible to extract near perfect shadow detail though.

A simpler but not quite perfect process would be to set the gamma at 2.4 (or 2.2), set oled light around 50, set brightness to the point where shadow detail just appears, then use the 2pt low scale to make very small alterations to shadow detail.

Right, because we all know how accurate and reliable a picture of a picture taken with a cell phone camera is[emoji41]

I posted those pics because even though cell phone pics are not very reliable they still looked neat to me and to my wife, especially with an old DVD being the source.
And what gear have I claimed to have, exactly?

Okay, thanks. The rtings.com review states that the response time is 0.1ms and that there's no blur, so I guess it's safe to assume that it has a CRT-like smoothness. With newer games, it doesn't make much of a difference to me, but I mostly play NES and Super NES games on my Wii U, which benefit a lot from clear, blur-free motion. I still have 2-3 weeks until I get mine...

Thanks! I'm getting a 65" B6. I'm beyond excited to finally watch all my films the way they were meant to be seen and to have the colors pop on my games. I'm even excited to see pitch black bars on the sides of old games from the CRT days.

Good news for all 2016 4K OLED TV owners who have are will be switching to DIRECTV. LG will be activating the built-in DIRECTV RTU in the next weeks. Here's the roll out schedule:

Model/size DTV Activation date
77" G6 ---- 10/25/16 (77" G6 limited distribution to select retailers, like us!)
65" G6 ---- 7/25/16
65" E6 ---- 7/20/16
55" E6 ---- 7/20/16
65" C6 ---- 7/20/16
55" C6 ---- 7/20/16
65" B6 ---- 8/16/16
55" B6 ---- 8/16/16

LG's LCD/LED series will also get this upgrade this summer
