Default Incognito media shelving

I'm moving into a much smaller place and I need a solution for my 800+ VHS/dvd/blu media library. The problem is I don't want my room to look too "busy" with dvd's covering the walls, I find it really distracting. Right now I'm considering buying IKEA shelves with opaque glass but I'm wondering if there's another solution. Does anyone have any ideas?

Make yourself a plex or kodi server, rip everything, and store the disks away.

I put shelves up on my walls that border the ceiling of our living and dining room. It works great and is out of the way. We have a step ladder tucked away that we just grab when we are getting a movie.

I used 6" deep, 1" thick shelves.

You could put your disks into sleeves and database the collection via a tablet.
