So, it's time to make a spoiler discussion thread for The Last Jedi, so we don't get any spoilers leaked in the main thread accidently. Here's my spoiler-filled bullet-pointed reviewed:

Luke dying is complete bullshit. It's not explained. You have no idea it's coming. And he deserved far more, as a character.

We didn't need the burp.

BB-H8 was pointless.

I don't get why DJ had that stutter. It wasn't necessary...nor consistent.

Not enough Chewie.

I don't remember anyone saying "I've got a really bad feeling about this."

We needed more BB8.

Holdo says "godspeed," I believe. Who the Hell is God?

Not enough lightsaber battles. The battle at the end of TFA was easily twice as long as the single one in this movie.

Not enough space battles.

I still don't get why the republic ship was just sitting there forever.

Porgs are not nearly as annoying as you think they're going to be. They're pretty irrelevant and, honestly, didn't need to be in the movie at all...and neither did the women who clean the temple.

The humor. There's a lot of it. It was far too campy for a SW movie. Luke throwing the lightsaber behind him was funny...but i don't think it's going to hold up on multiple watches.

Again, don't think this movie will hold up like TFA does. That one is very much a rocket-ship. I LOVED the pairings of Finn/Poe, Finn/Rey....etc.

Rose. Dear God...Rose. Go away. No one cares about you. The kiss is awkward and comes out of nowhere.

I'd love to hear about how TFA haters love this one...with lines of dialogue lifted right out of Jedi and Empire.

Why was the Emperor's theme played during Snoke torturing Rey? Just cuz he was saying almost the same dialogue?

I was going to be extremely pissed if the movie ended with the big Falcon party when Luke just died. Fortunately it didn't and ended on something far more poignant. However....that's still sticking with me. Zero emotional weight. Luke deserves FAR, FAR better.

JW reused several pieces of music. I was actually surprised at how much repetition there was.

Phasma dies like a chump. She's the Darth Maul of this trilogy. Deserved much, much better. Looked VERY cool. Did VERY little.

That's it for now. I'll add more if I think of more. I'll be seeing it again on Thursday and I'll add my thoughts.

That said, DO NOT expect massive spoilers. There is no "I am your father" moment. There are just some cool "ooh I need to see that" moments. Nothing earth shattering is revealed.

[Show spoiler]When Kylo said that accompanied by that shot of Luke holding his lightsaber and looking like a crazed madman in the dark... my jaw dropped.

It's a little lessened afterwards when Luke explains it from his side of things, and he says he wanted to murder him... but it was just a "fleeting shadow" and he felt shame immediately.

But still, that shocked the hell out of me.

- Lots of fan service but not in an obnoxious or cheap pandering way. It's the good kind of fan service, supporting of the story, and not overdone.
- Cinematography is gorgeous. Best looking Star Wars movie so far.
- The movie is simultaneously very serious but also the funniest Star Wars movie ever. It works.
- Hardcore fans and fans of the Star Wars mythology will get a lot out of this one. This one is big for the ongoing saga.

I do think Star Wars fans should go in free of spoilers.

I went in clean, thankfully, and there was one moment that was an actual jaw dropper. I can't remember the last time that happened. It would have had less impact if I knew it was coming.

There are some big developments of the story and universe in this one. I think a lot of it will be controversial, but a lot of it should lay to rest some of the "Disney is just copy and pasting the old trilogy and not taking chances" critiques I've seen online since 2015.

I'd say The Last Jedi is even more bold than Empire. Empire is the better movie and is (and will always be, at least for me) the best Star Wars movie. It just can't be topped. But The Last Jedi takes some roads I think most people aren't expecting a PG-13 Disney Star Wars movie to take.

I'm thrilled with it and can't wait to see it again. Going with a 5/5 when the poll is up.

So Rey is just a force sensitive nobody with no connection to the original franchise family, so that will leave the door open for a Rey & Kylo Ren romance in the next movie?

Maz is maybe 2 minutes...tops. And on a hologram. She's the one that tells them about going to Canto.

Uhh...better or worse than RO? They're two very, very different movies.

I vastly preferred the battle scenes in RO. There's very little "battle" in TLJ, I feel. They're not really that memorable.
This, obviously, has better characters that you actually care about.
