With The Walking Dead finishing for now with episode 15 because episode 16 had not completed post-production work,it got me thinking. Most shows couldn't finish filming their seasons or couldn't finish post production work before the Hollywood shutdown.
Supergirl for example just had three days left of shooting their finale while other Arrowverse shows had one or two episodes left. Many of these shows get Blu Ray releases of their seasons particularly around when the next seasons start. Everything is up in the air now on when the current seasons can be finished and when the new seasons will start filming due to the evolving Covid-19 pandemic. So what should be done with Blu Ray releases of shows?Assuming the disks can even be produced by that point due to possible work stoppage at the factories that produce the disks, should the incomplete season be released on disk before the last episodes are done and just include the missing episodes on the next seasons release or should the current seasons wait on their Blu Ray releases until the missing episodes have aired? Example Release The Walking Dead Season 10 on Blu Ray without episode 16 in August and include episode 16 with the Season 11 set next year or wait until episode 16 can be included with the set? |

As with most shows, the unfinished episodes will most likely be tacked onto next season in addition to the already ordered episodes... so we'll get longer seasons to accommodate that. It'll give them more time to resume filming as post finishes up what has been filmed, which is the case with TWD. The episode was filmed but said they still had a week and a half left in post and now it'll air as a special outside of the season.
Since seasons are ending early and not waiting (except obviously shows like Supernatural which won't be back next season), that's likely how it'll be on disc. |

I guess it could be a case by case basis.Supernatural is ending and they had one episode left to do.In that case, there is no future season to tack on the missing episode to a future season Blu Ray release.I think they would have to wait on a blu ray release of the current season because it's the last season.
Some of the Arrowverse shows they could tack on the missing episodes on the following season's release depending on when the episodes are finished and aired. |

Also, that poll doesn't work. Nothing is shooting right now. The actors are Off, the producer, directors, all the cast & crew are Off. Same thing with the people doing the Blu-rays encoding, or the pressing, or the distributors. Everything has been shut down. The only answer to the poll is: Wait until the crisis end. If possible, shoot the remaining episode + post prod. Then, produce the Blu-ray and then release them in stores. Last edited by Morsoth; 04-07-2020 at 06:34 PM. |

Well, now we know that Flash Season 6 is ending at episode 19 and Supergirl season 5 is ending at episode 19 as well confimed by Grant Gustin and Jon Cryer in separate interviews.
In The Flash's case,it sounds like they've decided to just scrap episode 20-22 rather then wait to try to film them at a later date.Understandable since it's unknown when filming could resume at this point. According to Gustin, the season was going to end on a cliffhanger [Show spoiler] but it was decided that episode 19 ends on a different satisfying cliffhanger to close the season. Here's that interview. https://tvline.com/2020/04/20/flash-...s-mirror-iris/ It sounds like with Supergirl, since they shot a good chunk of episode 20 which was the finale, they are going to combine elements of what they shot for episode 20 with episode 19 to create a new finale for episode 19 and re-jigger some things such as a [Show spoiler] Here are Cryer's comments. https://ew.com/tv/supergirl-jon-crye...5-finale-fate/ Given this new info,I would assume any Blu Ray release for the current season of The Flash and Supergirl will be a complete season since their episode 19's are now comfirmed to be their season finales. Unlike The Walking Dead where episode 15 is not the finale and they plan to air episode 16 later in the year once post production is complete. |
