It looks so bad. I saw it last week at a friend's house. The shadows have been decreased, the sharpness is way too much. The colors are just not real. The DI must have got hands on the High Dynamic Range technique and started experimenting. Bad presentation to an otherwise nice movie.

Go with REM blu I guess.
From the reliance screenshots here. Everything looked like a mess. |

The Reliance screenshots uploaded in this thread doesn't justify the actual quality. Actual BD quality is far superior than the uploaded Reliance screenshots. Here is same scene (not frame) from Reliance and REM. BUT there is no doubt REM has better black level and Reliance is washed out. But we can fix these things from adjustments to watch and would be better than REM. See black level killed the hair detail (above left ear) in REM.

^ clearly raised black levels in reliance which has ruined it.
if someone can post, in the very begining there is a shot of black night sky with moon (i think...or was it some planet). That will be enough to judge black level differences between the two. |

^ Here is the shot you’re looking for.
pk101.jpg There is a problem with this Blu-ray. Now I'm thinking that it’s not just the Blu-ray but the digital copy which was used at the theaters. In other words, the master digital itself was not processed correctly. Is it possible? I kept asking me what’s wrong with its colors. It had happened with two other movies too. But then I blamed the theater. On German Amazon there are shots and video of the REM Blu-ray. Can the subs be turned off on songs with Hindi audio on REM? I was told that those can be turned off with German audio only. Thanks! Last edited by rajkapoor; 08-14-2015 at 04:35 PM. |
