If SO many people simply throw away slipcovers why don't you simply leave them at the store or sell them for the shipping cost on eBay for those who want them but couldn't purchase the blu-ray opening week?

As far as uniformity goes, the 2,000 3D & 4K Blu-rays w/slips and SB's I own are ALL kept in plastic PET protectors and it makes my whole collection look perfectly uniform.

Not if you keep the blu-ray and slipcover in protective PET covers which protect from UV damage and fading, shelf wear when moving movies around, dust, dirt, and damage to corners if the blu-ray gets dropped on accident. Steelbooks with Double-Sided Lenticular slipcovers are my favorites and they are VERY high quality.

Also, I haven't encountered painted slipcovers, The LARGE MAJORITY of my slips are Lenticular Slipcovers but I only buy 3D & 4K movies. If it's just 1080p I'd assume watch it digitally on VUDU, Fandango Now, Amazon Video, Disney +, HBONOW etc... although with the addition of Dolby Vision to apps like Disney + 4K streaming has made leaps and bounds in picture quality.
