![]() Analysis 1. The menu is static with background audio. Surprisingly, for a static image the file size is 1.3 GB which contains two 640 kbps AC3 audio streams for reasons beyond my understanding and imagination. A lot of space was wasted there which could have been used for the main movie. 2. There was so much hype for this Blu-Ray for months. Now that the Blu-Ray is here, the PQ is simply disappointing to put it mildly. It seems highly denoised and lacks depth of field. The blacks are very low as well. 3. Some extras have improper aspect ratio and some clearly look upscaled from a SD source (last 3 screenshots). Judging from the the last screenshot, they should have kept it SD on a separate DVD, in my opinion. I feel like recently all the major labels are collaborating to screw the customers over with poorly authored content and ruining the whole movie viewing experience. I am looking at you, Shemaroo & YRF, for your recent releases of Queen and Gunday DVD. I am aware that many of you have bought this Blu-Ray, but it is my opinion that this release does not do justice to the standards that a movie like Rang De Basanti deserves. Hey i bought the bluray steelbook of this movie and i thought the video quality was very good.
I did not find any video artifacts or issues with the bluray authoring. If there was a problem with the video, it mustve been in the source or the choice of video filters used by the Director. The audio was pretty good too. Steelbook is sexy! Overall a good release. |

I am not aware of the condition of the source, but judging from mhafner's comment on the DI in the link below, it could have been of better quality. http://www.zulm.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=12740 |

got my copy today and on my 60" calibrated screen + oppo combo, I thought PQ was actually about 7/10 which is much better than the screenshots above would indicate. There is obvious DNR but there is also plenty of detail. I suspect those with larger screens will also notice some EE but on my screen size, it wasnt overly distracting.

Guys since the Bluray production in India is almost over. The wait for a better transfer is almost non- existent IMO. The 2 disc steelbook edition is available in Flipkart for 1399. ie 600rs discount from the original 2k price tag. Is it worth buying now?
