![]() ![]() Sweden and Finland gets this release in November. Probably subtitled only in Swedish and Finnish, too (maybe Danish and Norwegian also). No idea what the quality is like, of course, but Jacques Tati box was not that bad. |

Yes, I agree.
I already have the Criterion BDs of all the films, but I'm very tempted to buy the set so I can show the movies to people who are less keen on English subs... Buuuuuut I wouldn't be very surprised if the quality turns out to be utter crap. There's been some truly abominable Scandinavian releases over the years (like loads of DVDs that turned out to be straight VHS transfers). |

Can anyone report about the quality of the image and sound in the set? Maybe subtitles too?

How does this compare to the BFI releases?

I loaned this some time ago from a library.
I remember them being quite solid transfers, possibly the same that BFI have used in their Blu-ray Kurosawas. Definitely worth your while if it can be had cheap. I don't think there were any extras though. |

I have this set and imho the quality is good. Subtitles are in Finnish, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian and the only extras are Rashomon trailer (4 min) and a short clip (7 min) covering the restoration process. Extras are with English subtitles only.
I would add this release to the database but for some reason I seem not to be able to add anything to this page. |

I am thinking about getting this since it is the only way to get Throne of Blood besides the French version. Could anybody else comment on the quality?

Got this box last spring, all movies look very good. I was surprised how good the quality is in this.
