Odd. During these times you'd think they'd actually have way more time. Not to mention that 2021 is already full to the brim with movie releases, so it doesn't really make sense for this to be being rushed specifically for 2021. We don't even know what will happen between now and 2021 regarding the situation with covid and theaters, it could change even more to the point where even movies that were delayed to 2021 have to delay even further. We just don't know so it makes little sense to me, unless they are planning a VOD release. But, it's just a rumor.

Addams Family 2 may have been planned for 2022 initially but with COVID not going away an animated film, particularly one in a franchise is a low risk chance at money. I'd rather studios lean into kids animated fare right now (I know The War with Grandpa is doing surprisingly well now, as well as the rerelease of Hocus Pocus) than putting actors at risk for live action. I do hope the overworked animators is just a rumor though. I wouldn't be surprised if the fallout from Tenet is what expedited this. They were probably counting on No Time to Die to make them a mint in 2021 but seeing Tenet underperform thought they'd need a fallback plan that would play to a wider audience. |

When the animated Addams Family movie came out last year, someone on Twitter remarked that voice actors Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron would have been great casting for Gomez and Morticia even in live-action, and I could totally see that.
