It seems they have a decent set of actors in just this short film alone, so imagine what they could do with funding and a major studio to back it up.
Thanks, I will update my OP to include this. I think this will get the movie made though.

Looks like a video game promo to me. I highly doubt we would see another MK movie, unless it is of the straight to Blu-Ray variety.

Honestly, that would be a great movie. I almost shat my pants watching how sick of a movie it could be. The director needs to stay for this film, if it becomes one.

With the reboot, it seems they want to stay within the real world, and not mention Outworld. i.e. Baraka isn't a creepy surgeon in the Mortal Kombat universe, but in the reboot - he is. Reptile has a different background as well.

I dunno, I liked the cheesy Mortal Kombat movie as it stayed truer to the video game. I have my doubts for this reboot, but I would like to see a new, darker MK movie.

After reading some of the negative comments, I finally watched the video. All I have to say is I'M ALL IN

Call it a reboot, call it a "changing with the times movies" or whatever you will, I wouldn't hesitate for a split second to see a Mortal Kombat movie like that. I absolutely love everything about it. I know people want the parallel universe storyline and everything like that, but look at how MK2 turned out

MK1 was good for it's time, but watch it again and tell me it holds the test of time. I love this idea, it's violent, raw, fresh, and you can actually see the fighting (sorry jason bourne). If they could make a full out movie shot in this way (it kind of reminds me of the camera work Zack Snyder did in Watchmen during fights), I would be the happiest man on the planet. That's just my opinion

Here's the scoop. Well not much of one since this is all over the place now...

Have any of you seen "Los Bandoleros"? It's a 20 minute prequel to Fast and Furious that ties the fourth film to the first. Like that short, this is a set up for the new Mortal Kombat remake. The reason it was leaked all over the net and not removed was to gauge the response of fans before the studio officially agrees to give the full feature a green light. It was released on purpose by Warner Bros Pictures. The script is done, the cast is chosen and ready to go, and the fight choreographer (Larnell Stovall) that director Kevin Tancharoen brought on board is an absolute genius at his craft. All they need is the financial backing and a distribution channel to move full steam ahead.

That is GREAT news. This has automatically became my new most anticipated movie.

I think it seems to be an interesting take on it. Seems like it would be very gory and bloody as well. Also like how they make Scorpion out to be an anti-hero type. Always liked Scorpion. Wonder how they will explain the spear coming out of his hand though.
