James Wan is Producing this film for a reason; he made Warner a stack of cash with Aquaman, so they want the talent that made that film creatively involved in this make-or-break reboot of the MK film franchise. More grounded? Absolutely, but i'm sure it will kick arse regardless...

Seeing how HBOMax is only having these films for 30 days to begin with, this may be the first movie I see in theaters again. Thier site just do any have enough content to pay $15 a month imo. I only used it for 2 days of my two week trial.

Won't make a more thorough judgement until a full trailer, but, so far, this looks like it should have premiered on Hi-YAH.
Into the Badlands on AMC & Warrior on Skinemax look to have had higher production values. |

There's a tiny bit of Mortal Kombat info in this interview with Joe Taslim, who plays Sub-Zero in the movie. He sorta confirms one fan favorite character that isn't in it. I haven't been following the news on this movie so it may be old news.

![]() [Show spoiler] Like I said, only fatalities will save this. Like what kinda fuken shot is Sub Zero in a south Australian parking lot? lmao. The budget is hurting it so bad. As much as the first two films get derided (Annihilation is the so bad it's good) this feels like it's playing it too straight for it to be goofy. As brutal the violence in the recent games, there's still a air of goofiness' and silliness to it. And the first film understood this whilst keeping the PG rating. Instead of trying to fake gravitas, just go all B-Movie schlock. Your budget doesn't allow it to match an MCU equivalent of a modern day interpretation. This is one of the franchises where I feel like Zack Snyder sensibilities would be well fitting for it lmao (see Watchmen Prison sequence & Bats Warehouse scene etc.). My expectations are low for this, but I hope this is more Annihilation bad that's it enjoyable rather than a super serious dull affair. |

Why the hell are some of you comparing Cole to Cage? They are NOTHING alike. If anything, Cole might be loosely based off of a certain son from a character y'all know very well, which I won't spoil.
Sorry for getting aggressive there. No. Cole is NOT Cage. Cole is related to one of the characters. That's all I will say. |
