Just curious for those who watched it what you thought. Some people think that A. Silva fought a smart fight and was technically superior to Leittes. Other people think that A. Silva's only goal was to hold onto the title. I can see both sides of the arguement. I gotta say that I didn't enjoy the fight very much. I was surprised by Dana White's appology to the public about the main event. And I'm surprised that A. Silva will be fighting Forrest Griffon at UFC 101. Forrest always makes for a good fight.

I think A. Silva fought his fight. He was scared though of the others bjj. You could tell because he wouldn't wanna go dow and fight on the floor. He did fight to 'keep' the belt rather then to win the fight though.

Dana is stupid, i hate him

Fight with forrest is gonna be crazy

Forrest is the man! He always makes for an entertaining fight. I hope he fairs better than James Irvin did. I was hoping for a Silva vs. GSP fight tho.

Without Dana White, there is no UFC.

Not to mention the fact that he has been voted Promoter of The Year for each of the last four years.

Silva did what he needed to to retain, and said as much following the fight. That's true, but it still made for one heck of an boring affair. Leites shoulders more blame however, in this case.

The fallout giving us Griffin/Silva is worth it though. That's going to be great, and to be honest, I am more excited about that then him fighting GSP. Griffin is a massive LHW.

At least Anderson is fighting bigger fights. I realize it holds up the 185 title picture, but outside of a rematch with Marquardt, I wasn't too excited for any of the potential matchups.

You know they are SO hoping for Bisping to beat Hendo though, as Silva/Bisping is the title match they really want next. Okami and Maia are just going to have to continue to wait. Not happening.

Ya, I agree that there isn't much competition for Silva at 185# anymore. I don't see Bisping beating Henderson.....but I've been wrong before....a lot. Should be a good fight.

UFC 100 is on July 11, 2009. Also Bisping and Henderson are fighting as well as GSP and T. Alves. Three good main events IMO.

idk about forrest being the man. i still don't think he won against rampage to begin with. atleast he won't be a coward like that dude silva fought. i don't blame silva for doing what he does. winning is winning not all fights are going to be entertaining. either way i only tune in for GSP fights cause these other fights have no appeal to me.

The only time I didn't like Forrest was after he got knocked out by Jardine and cried.

I didn't think GSP won the first fight against Penn either....but the judges did. Our opinions don't count for much after the fact when it goes to a decision.

Anderson fought smart, but cocky at the same time. Thales didn't fight well either. Forrest will make for an entertaining fight, and he could possibly beat Anderson, I really wanted to see a Shogun - Forrest rematch though.

Shogun looked really good against Chuck, with better boxing than ever, if he trains and prepares himself that hard for a Forrest rematch, I think he beats Forrest, probably by KO. The guy is probably the most gifted fighter at 205.

We should do an official MMA thread where we can discuss all the events, etc.

I think acronyms are used and abused to the point that people is now too lazy to even bother writing in full.

My MMA input for now: I'm shocked/sad that Chuck and his style of fighting is passé now. Overall it's good for the sport, as more finely-tuned athletes are beginning to dominate the sport, but it's always fun to watch a haymaker specialist (who's also great at avoiding take-downs and used to be able to take a punch) do his thing.

I was also sad to see Chuck's final fight in the UFC. It's probably best for his health though. A guy can't keep getting knocked out like that. He is an icon in the sport and will be missed.

I certainly agree here, you can't blame the guy that wants to stand up when the other fighter lays down on his back and waits for the other guy to try and take him on on the ground, get your raggedy @$$ up and fight.

I'm hoping that Bisping beats Hendo, Hendo is proof that there were better fighters in the UFC, he held two belts in Pride and when they brought them over to the UFC and they had the amalgamation fights he lost them both. *LOL*

BTW, the UFC game on PS3 is AMAZING. I played it nonstop all last Sunday. Can't wait for the full game and to make my own character.
