Fringe or The X-Files?
Which one do you prefer?

I picked Fringe. LOVE the X-files, but I like the serialized structure of Fringe better.

Love both but I choose the X-Files as I love watching that more and have only seen 1 season of Fringe.

X-Files was great, but Fringe pulls off both the Monster of the Week arcs AND the serial plot perfectly.

Having recently attempted to watch the entire X-Files series, I realized very quickly what an impossible bore of a chore that was and ended with season 6. Fringe is by far for me FAR FAR SUPERIOR in every conceivable way.

I am loving Fringe right now, and it very possibly might beat the X-Files. But I also remember falling hard for the X-Files during the first 3-4 seasons.
Then I progressively fell off the wagon ... so with time, if Fringe's quality keeps up and steady, it might just take over for good in my case.

I like X-Files a lot, but Fringe is my favorite. Even Fringe's stand alone episodes give a little clue to the overall mythology. X-Files would have like three stand alone episodes or more before they revisited the mythology. It kind of took away from the show a little bit, IMO.

I recently watched X-Files again, still enjoyed it very much but I must say, it's kinda slow in comparison to series from this time period.

I know the question wasn't pointed to me but I really enjoyed the 2005 version and really wish it was still on air today as it seemed they had some good stuff planned for a second season.

No problem, detective, I too liked the show very much, really a shame it was cancelled so soon. They should not have called it The Night Stalker, it should had have it's own identity, maybe then it would have been a succes. Now people say it's a bad copy of the original.

Yeah wonderful show but bad marketing as the time slot was bad as it was up against CSI I believe when CSI was at it's height in popularity and like you said should have had it's own identity.

To be honest I haven't ever watched much of both. I've seen some early X-Files and all I've seen of Fringe is the first few episodes of season 1 and the first few of season 4 so really I can't judge but as I know what they are both about and how the episodes are structured I would have to pick Fringe. Although the X-Files defined sci-fi on TV in the 90's I think because Fringe is more modern (I know, it's not really a good excuse!) and basically just the nature of it all. Nothing to do with Anna Torv of course.
