I need 7.1 headphones so I can get the most out of my blu-ray movies and my PS3. I know a home theater system would be preferable but my room is small, and a home theater system won't fit anywhere in it. Now, I want something that would most accurately reproduce 7.1 sound.
I also do not understand how exactly audio processing works and any help would be appreciated in case I get something wrong. Will I get lossless audio? Or, will the headphones show the difference between lossy and lossless? |

i've been looking for 5.1 or 7.1 headphones myself and afraid to say, from what i've learned, there aren't any that actually carry over the complete 7.1 sound experience. you may hear some difference (like i can hear the difference between lossless and other audio through my generic soundbar) but you're not actually getting the complete package.
at the end of the day, what the majority of people say is, the headphones are gonna give you digital sound (or whatever it is headphones have... i think it's digital lol) and that's that. sucks, i know ![]() |

Thanks for the link John. By far the less expensive option I found for the ear piece. Still, I need to get my wall mount and shelves set up before I can spring on this. If I'm lucky my wife will pick it up for my birthday present

I had the same dilemma. i was considering the triton 5.1 headphones. However last saturday i purchased the beats solo HD by dr. dre at best buy. they were reasonable white ones for 180 and black for 200 but you can find many 10% off coupons for bestbuy on the internet. just be wary the coupon usually is only for items not on sale. the beats are an amazing head phone pounding bass and crisp highs. my reccomendation would either be the beats solo hd or any good qualtiy stereo head phones. however most likely you will need a receiver for the headphones or a analog splitter if the headphones have an inline volume control.

I've got the Beyerdynamic 990's. Ultra comfortable for long periods and a huge frequency response. I had a pair of the B&W P5's but they seemed to lack clarity. I loved the fit and finish but returned them. The Beyers deliver clarity by the truckload, with a very clean bass.

Well, there's a set (currently only available in Japan though, but there's of course eBay and other sites selling it nonetheless), Sony MDR-DS7500, that has support for Linear PCM, DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 among others.

That's pretty expensive, personally I own these and they would be great for movies. They are true 5.1,they have vibrating motors for subs, pretty cool.
