I'm still trying to work these things out. The surround seems to kind of work I guess, not as amazing as the reviews seemed to make it out to be. But maybe I'm doing something wrong. ("Cinema" mode and "Game" mode seem to work with surround more than the default mode does, but the bass doesn't seem to work with the default more for some reason) Also I don't seem to be getting TrueHD/DTS-HD (the lights on the little receiver don't pop up when i play a blu-ray on my PC. I'll try it on my PS3 later. Could possibly just be some settings problems on my PC.

Also my PC seems to think the receiver is a "monitor" in devices, which automatically extends my desktop into nothingness, which is annoying.

Alright, thanks. Let us know how it goes on the PS3

Tried with PS3 but the little lights didn't come up either. (all the different audio formats were checked in the settings)

As for my PC, apparently my graphics card does not support those HD audios anyway :S

I have to wonder now whether it's worth getting them. I really wanted these for my PS3.

Yeah, maybe I was just doing something wrong. I was using the headphone receiver thing as a HDMI pass through from my PS3 to my TV, but I think one of the HDMI cables was the old type, and one was the new 1.4 type (i think), should that make any difference at all? I don't know :S

I try looking up help but even the english reviews/discussions aren't much help, let alone Japanese ones.

Perhaps if or when an official international release happens, there'll be more help.

I'm not sure if this is the correct thread to ask, but...

I just purchased the Sony MDR-DS6500 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...pf_rd_i=507846 and I'm trying to figure out how I could set it up to my Pioneer VSX-1121 in a way, so I can switch from several sources.
The Sony is optical (toslink) & analog in (rca lft & rt.), but my Oppo blu-ray, TiVo, PS3 & HD-DVD are connected via HDMI.
Is there a way to have HDMI in/out & optical out from my receiver?

If this sounds a bit confusing, I'm sorry...can't really explain it well.

I've considered a splitter/switch, but read awful reviews about them.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hmmm... there seems to be a Sony Japan site with instructions on how to set it up with the PS3.

I wish the MDR-DS7500 would be released in other countries already. I want one.

Sony PS3 Pulse headphones (supposed to be 7.1 or something like that) come out in a week or so. I'm leaning that way.

At 7pm tonight Amazon is having a Gold Box special on some type of PS3 headphone - suppose it's to clear inventory of the older model PS3 headphones.

Yeah, but I'll wait for the MDR-DS7500s 'cause it's lossless 7.1 audio.

Solved my problem with the Sony MDR-DS6500...just got a digital switcher that works perfect.
I guess this is the next best thing to the Sony MDR-DS7500.

Still keeping my fingers X'd for them to be release here in the States...not holding my breathe though.
Very satisfied with the sound & quality of the Sony MDR-DS6500...even if they are still lossy.

Why not order it from Japan?

Well, I'm not really an import kinda guy. Plus I'd like to have the instructions in English, get it quicker, and not have to pay about 300-400 to import it.

I have been debating for a long while now which surround headphones to get. Was looking at sennheiser rs 180, Sony mdr ds6500, and Sony Japan's mdr ds7500. Just when I think I've made up my mind I think of something else to ponder. I'm going with the Japan model for several reasons. Its pricey and out of my range so ill save my pennies and be patient. But I think it will be worth it. I doubt the USA will get this considering the older model never made it here but who knows. In the future ill look into stereo headphones for music.

I also wish there is one for USA.

I guess currently that is only one that does what I want, as I wrote in this link of thread of my question.

Considering the price of the DS7500's and possible import fees etc, I went for the 6500s which whilst not lossless are excellent.

If you don't mind me asking did you get yours from Amazon. Also what is the bass sound like on these and can you clearly hear the Surround Sound?
