I did get mine from Amazon. The bass is excellent IMO and the surround does indeed come through very well.

I would highly recommend these...at times I forget I'm listening through the headphones.

At first, it might take a bit to getting used to...especially the slight "creaking" noise once in a while due to the plastic material it is made of.
But once you get used to that...awesome!

I have way to many still to watch and some still to purchase, but my horrors and Sci Fi will take on another dimension with these i hope. I have just ordered them, can't wait.

I use Cinema mode. I'm happy with it. Anything particularly wrong with it? You could try game or turn off effects mode, see if that helps.

Terrible echo on voices, sounds like they are in a cave. I will try the effects off.

Just got it on Cinema mode, hooked up via optical digital to my PS3. I can't hear that echo at all.

There is a slight echo compared to listening to actual speakers...depends on the source.

You need to listen to them more and you will adjust to the echo.
That's what I did.

I'd suggest playing around with the modes (or lack thereof) and find something you're happy with. I'm OK with the cinema mode myself.

Been playing around and for me the off mode is best as it gives a more natural tone to voices, for now anyway.
