Seinfeld vs Curb Your Enthusiasm - Blu-ray Forum

These are two of the greatest TV comedies of all time IMO and Larry David is the primary creative force behind both of them. Which series do you like the best? I love them both but voted for Curb Your Enthusiasm because I think its just pure genius.

I prefer Curb Your Enthusiasm. It's actually uncomfortable to watch... in a good way.

I totally agree. I get embarrassed and feel uneasy just watching some of the situations Larry gets himself in.

Seinfeld all the way.

I have watched Curb multiple times telling myself to give it another try but it's just not funny.
I maybe have chuckled at best.

Seinfeld is a great show, but all of my favorite scenes involved George Costanza. I like Curb Your Enthusiasm better because the entire show consists of "George Moments" since George was based on Larry David.

I find myself in the same boat. I should give this series another look; maybe I wasn't in the right mood when I saw it initially?

i love both but Seinfeld is my favorite sitcom of all time... Curb has some great episodes but Seinfeld is classic in every way

Curb is good but it can become tedious because it always has the same A to Z setup: everything is going good and then Larry says or does something that screws everyone over.

There are some excellent episodes, though, (The Grand Opening, The Table Read) and the show is definitely funny even with the set in stone setup. However, there are also some episodes where I go without ever laughing (Opening Night is just atrocious and my least favorite episode from the show and The End just overstays its welcome).

Seinfeld is just pure greatness. Even the first and final seasons (what many think are the worst from the show) are funny to me. I can laugh at just about every episode and can watch them over and over again without getting tired of them.

Seinfeld (minus the first season which is almost unwatchable).

I like Curb but to me it's uncomfortable in a "jeez I don't want to watch this" way.

I enjoy Seinfeld, but I don't care for Curb Your Enthusiasm at all.

Seinfield was the rough draft, curb is the final product. Not even a comparison, i love seinfield but curb has me in tears from start to finish almost every episode. Not only do i identify with LD and his situations, but its got such a "smart" edge that seinfield frankly doesn't. I know a lot of people that miss half the jokes and humor until its explained to them.

That was just a 90's style though. Everybody did it then, everybody!

Seinfeld and Curb are essentially the same show to me, one's just 90's dummed down for Network TV, and the other gets the benefit of HBO. Curb is only better now because shows in general have evolved and are better now; and the performances of the Seinfeld episodes of the last season of Curb show good Seinfeld really could have been in a different decade.

Seinfeld - while it can be somewhat dated now the show was incredible when it was on.

Well you also have an artist (LD) who has really perfected his craft, in fact last season he hit some topics from earlier seasons, and hit them better. In addition seinfield was Season after season, and they had to hit the number of episodes. Then you have curb, only 10 episodes a season not to mention it has generally gone on nearly a 2 year hiatus between every season, so quality before quantity definitely applies.

I do agree seinfield would be more polished if made today, but the sad fact is with the ratings it got s1 it would also be cancelled in todays tv environment in favor of a reality show i am sure. Rather sad when you think about it.

Seinfeld still cracks me up everytime I watch it. Costanza has to be one of the greatest tv characters ever.
