Here's What Makes PS Vita's Persona 4 Golden

The PlayStation Vita version of Persona 4 is "Persona 4 The Golden." So what's so Golden about it?

Famitsu lists the following (as summed up at Sokuho@Hokanko):

• 3G and Wi-Fi support
• New event scenes
• Added Personas
• Added character outfits
• New character Marie, voiced by Kana Hanazawa. She's a "mysterious girl" who appears before the main characters.
• When you're about to die in a dungeon, you can send a message seeking help from other players. It's not specified how this system will work exactly.
• Additional anime movie scenes, with new voices
• 1.5 times the voice of the PS2 original
• New song for the opening movie
• An element that has been highly requested by fans

In an interview with Famitsu, producer Katsura Hashino said that team Persona was originally looking into bringing Persona 4 to PSP. However, they wanted to retain as much as possible from the PS2 version, as opposed to some of the cuts they had to make for Persona 3 Portable. They deemed this impossible on the PSP. This is when they heard about the Vita, and determined that they could make something even better than the PS2 version.

Hashino promised that the Vita version will retain the qualities of the original while also adding many new elements.

Famitsu provides a hint for the mysterious unnannounced feature: “The addition of __, the __ part will be announced later.”

Seriously stoked for this. Persona 4 was the only reason I turned on my PS2 in the last three years, and I spent well over a hundred hours on the game.

I'm glad it's not going to be like Persona 3 Portable with all of the stuff they had to cut off for it. It was still enjoyable and the whole playing as a female main character was kind of nice, but it just didn't have that same charm as my PS2 copy of Persona 3 FES.

I wonder if by more voice acting, that means that the main character will actually be voiced besides just the animated movie cutscenes. Though lots of times, non-voiced main characters, stay as non-voiced even in later ports of the game. (mostly speaking of in visual novels)

Also, apparently Aksys(Arcana Heart 3, BlazBlue, Battle Fantasia, and Guilty Gear) are making a Persona 4 fighting game. It will be called Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena. It will be playable in arcades in Spring 2012, with a PS3 and Xbox 360 release in the Summer.

Where's the anti-aliasing Atlus? Every PSVITA game should have 2-4xMSAA. Catherine shows Atlus isn't one of these developers oblivious to its existence.

Yeah, I really missed the anime cut scenes; especially the one where the main character summons his/her powers for the first time. I haven't finished playing it yet, but I really hope they kept the scene at the end with

You really shouldn't try to do that in one playthrough. Just focus on beating the game and leveling your first run. Once you have everything maxed, combat is nothing your second run through and you don't have to spend any time on it. It's hard NOT to get a max Slink run your second time.

Not to mention you HAVE to play it twice anyways for the platinum.

I already beat the game, but I wanted a guide for the books, social links and any missable trophies

Ah! In that case ps3trophies.org has a good guide, as does gamefaqs and youtube!

The books are annoying, as are some of the s links. I'm trying to get them legit on my current playthrough. If I don't, I'll use a guide and my most powerful personas next time.
