How To Add DVDs to the Database - and Your Collection:

The process is very simple.

To add new DVDs, you can either go to the theatrical entry and click on "Create DVD" (after "Create Blu-ray"), example:
https://www.blu-ray.com/Super-8/32333/

If there is no existing theatrical/master entry, you can go to any DVD entry and click on "Add new movie" (located below the tabs "Overview", "Blu-ray review", "Screenshots" etc).

The developers have also made it extremely easy to search the database now. Just go to the search bar on the main page, which you used to use to search the Blu-ray database.

Addition: How to Select Studio/Distributor When Contributing to the Database

Hello everyone,

The Blu-ray.com team would like to inform all members and contributors how to select the studio/distributor when adding a new title/profile or updating an existing one.

Given that the film industry constantly evolves -- many labels merge, new sublabels are created, old studios are renamed, etc -- we would like to follow the same format ISBN logging does. There are different reasons why, but some of the most important ones are consistency and the ability to retain legacy info.

What this means is that the studio/distributor that is entered in the database must be the party releasing the product (Blu-ray/DVD) as of the day/date it enters the market. For example, if Echo Bridge is releasing a Miramax produced film on February 1, the film/release profile should have Echo Bridge as the studio/distributor.

Sublabels/offshoots shouldn't be broken either. For example, From Beyond, which is part of Scream Factory's horror series, should appear under Shout Factory.

The decision to have in the profile the studio/distributor releasing the title as of the day it enters the market was made so that our members as well as our team (reviewers/contributors) can easily identify it. This should also help us avoid the incorrect information large retailers, such as Amazon, often list before and after release date.

I've got a smallish collection but I'd be happy to start adding TV titles and movies from the ones I have (I'll add complete seasons as well if it helps).

It helps if you have a PC you can hover the mouse over the disc in My Computer so you'll know if it's a DVD5 or DVD9/18 (there aren't any 18's around though). If you have certain program they'll tell you how big the movie size is otherwise try DVDCompare fro the specs.

So whatever you need added up, go ahead. I've been adding plenty of international titles (and UK titles in particular), but my collection is pretty big and I don't have a lot of free time, so it will take awhile to add everything up.

But the price tracker and calendar are definitely on for UK DVDs

how do you upload CORRECT covers? example... the dvd of The Men Who Stare At Goats, the cover was an awful little picture that wasnt the cover. i uploaded the correct cover, now the awful picture is now distorted to an original size of a dvd and the correct cover i uploaded is only shown if you click on the ADD NEW COVER tab. Same goes for Spiderman 1.

On a side note.... "Bam Margera Presents: Where the F**K Is Santa" link is broken. its in my dvd collection but i cant click on it or anything? Also cant select it when you search in the search box.

Hi your correct cover is in. Sometimes it may take a few extra minutes for the server to update the old cover we had in the database. Then you could also hit F5 on your keyboard (hard refresh typically takes care of the issue).

I just typed that the they were not fixed and then refreshed and for whatever reason, as i guess you posted, they went correct? sorry, i just assumed they would of been fixed when i logged back in...weird but whatever. Thanks and keep up the good work on you and everybodies elses end on the site. it rocks !

It is definitely in. I see it. So, click on the profile, then refresh a couple of times and then hit F5. It will update itself. It just takes a bit of time.

(To see that the correct cover is in, log off, go to the profile, and refresh).

I've submitted Dracula (2006) but the ASIN: B000L42NA0 was rejected for not been 10 characters and the 5037115233134 EAN was also rejected.

Also how do you add covers do you need to wait for the title to be submitted first?

I've added a good few DVDs now, haven't had any problems with ASIN codes. I try and add most of the specs, but tend to avoid adding the DVDs EANs.
The covers thing is a bit annoying, find myself adding DVDs then waiting X hours then adding the covers and waiting again lol. If theres a quicker way I'd certainly like to hear about it too

The only UK Dracula I see is this one (obviously, not the 2006 film):



Try adding one more time the profile and then PM me so I can take a look at it because I cannot answer at the moment why you are having problems
