PAAN SINGH TOMAR is an example of a solid good movie. Could've been great.
But definitely much better than overrated BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG which was just about average, long, hammy and bore. I'll buy PAAN SINGH TOMAR in a heart beat if it becomes available on BluRay. |

^ Yeah, the clipping looks good and definitely deserve Blu-ray. It was announced but don't know what happened. May be the reason for canceling PST Blu-ray could be BMB release was close which represents proud of India and other side PST shows the corruption/bad image of Indian Government.

The next best thing.
https://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/pa...ar/id821425411 It seems like it's not available in Indian iTunes store though. |

@nitin: No offense, it was a general thought.
![]() Actually Indian Film Industry do too much care for money and ONLY interested in which they believe it would be beneficial for them. Doesn't matter how important film is or how much attention any movie deserves. Am I too rude? |

I'm digging up this very old thread because such an incredible actor is sadly not doing well with his health. Hes admitted at Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai. The cancer seems to have spread. Not sure how much time he has left...
This thread specifically because in my opinion this was his finest amongst his best. |

Looks like I spoke too soon. While not one of my favorite actors (even in that particular gritty non-filmy filmstar niche, I preferred Nawazuddin), Irrfan put up some strong performances.
I first saw him in the early '90's in some of Govind Nihalani projects - he had a cameo as a classical singer in the Dimple Kapadia - Shekhar Kapur drama Drishti and played the lead in Jazeere, the Hindi teleplay of Henrik Isben's Little Eyolf. He also supported in the cult Pankaj Kapur film Ek Doctor ki Maut. Of course, Irrfan had earlier appeared in Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay!, but at the time I hadn't noticed him. During his stardom phase, I liked the performances he gave in Maqbool (great chemistry with a fiery Tabu), Piku & Yeh Saali Zindagi (in which he revealed a lovely humorous side), Pan Singh Tomar (even if the film was ham-handedly scripted, becoming a standard dacoit drama in its second half), Qissa (very unusual film where he insists on raising his daughter as a boy, to the extent of marrying her off to another girl). One performance I admired of his, which many fans of his more prestigious roles may not be aware of is the role of a gigolo in the film Mr. 100% - The Real Player - the scene where he is talking about feeling ill and weak (his character dies of AIDS) is genuinely moving and transcends the film's exploitation territory. |
